Ilse Koch
Ilse Koch (22 September 1906 – 1 September 1967) was a German war criminal who committed atrocities while her husband Karl-Otto Koch was commandant at Buchenwald concentration camp, Buchenwald. Though Ilse Koch had no official position in the Nazi state, she became one of the most infamous Nazi figures at the war's end and was referred to as the "Kommandeuse of Buchenwald". Because of the egregiousness of her alleged actions, including that she had selected tattooed prisoners for death in order to Lampshades made from human skin, fashion lampshades and other items from their skins, her 1947 U.S. military commission court trial at Dachau received worldwide media attention, as did the testimony of survivors who ascribed sadistic and perverse acts of violence to Koch – giving rise to the image of her as "the concentration camp murderess". Ilse Bing (23 March 1899 – 10 March 1998) was a German avant-garde and commercial photographer who produced pioneering monochrome images during the inter-war era. Biography Background and early life Ilse Bing was born into a wealthy Jewish family of merchants in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on March 23, 1899. Louis Bing and Johanna Elli Bing (née Katz) were her parents. Bing was up in a culturally active family and was exposed to the arts at a young age. Ilse Annoeska de Lange (born 13 May 1977), better known as Ilse DeLange, is a Dutch country and pop rock singer-songwriter. In 1998, she gained fame with her single 'I'm Not So Tough', which later became multiple platinum in The Netherlands. Other hits were "Miracle", "So Incredible" and "The Great Escape". As the lead singer of The Common Linnets, she finished in second place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. Princess Ilse ( or ''Prinzeß Ilse'') is the name of a popular tourist destination in the Ilse valley near the town of Ilsenburg in the Harz Mountains of central Germany. The spot was named after the River Ilse, which rises on the highest mountain in the Harz, the legendary Brocken, and flows through the romantic Ilse valley to Ilsenburg. Ilse Everlien Berardo (born 28 December 1955) is a German Lutheran theologian, responsible for the German-speaking Protestant Church on Madeira Island. She is the first woman to become pastor of the Lutheran Church in Madeira, in 500 years of Christian presence on the island. She was ordained in July 2011, by the Bishop of Kassel, Martin Hein.
