Ildar Akhmerov
Ildar Ferdinandovich Akhmerov (; born 7 August 1965) is an officer of the Russian Navy. He currently holds the rank of Vice-Admiral, and is a deputy commander in chief of the Black Sea Fleet since 2024. Biography Akhmerov was born on 7 August 1965 in Kazan, in what was then the Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, in the Soviet Union. He entered the Soviet Navy, studying at the Pacific Higher Naval School in Vladivostok from 1982 to 1987, when he graduated from the faculty of radio engineering. He was assigned to serve as a group commander of the combat unit of the Krivak-class frigate ''Storozhevoy'' between 1987 and 1994, followed by the post of commander of the radiotechnical combat unit of the ''Udaloy''-class destroyer ''Admiral Tributs'' from 1994 until 1997, and then senior assistant to the commander of the ''Admiral Panteleyev'' between 1997 and 2001. The Northern Fleet (, ''Severnyy flot'') is the Naval fleet, fleet of the Russian Navy in the Arctic. The Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation () is the senior staff college of the Russian Armed Forces. MV Moscow University Hijacking
On 5 May 2010, Somali pirates hijacked , a Liberian-flagged Russian tanker, in the Gulf of Aden. Her crew was freed by the Russian Navy destroyer the following day. Hijacking The Russian tanker MV ''Moscow University'' () was attacked on 5 May 2010 by Somali pirates off the coast of Somalia. The ship fired water cannons and flare pistols at the pirates, and attempted to outmaneuver them, but its constant maneuvers forced it to a speed of nine knots after one hour, after which the pirates attached an assault ladder and began boarding. ''Marshal Shaposhnikov'' () is a modernized (Reclassified as Frigate) of the Russian Navy commissioned in 1985. The vessel serves in the Russian Pacific Fleet. Her namesake is Marshal Boris Shaposhnikov. The Pacific Fleet () is the Russian Navy fleet in the Pacific Ocean. Established in 1731 as part of the Imperial Russian Navy, the fleet was known as the Okhotsk Military Flotilla (1731–1856) and Siberian Military Flotilla (1856–1918), formed to defend Russian interests in the Russian Far East region along the Pacific coast. Kuznetsov Naval Academy
The N. G. Kuznetsov Naval Academy is the main staff college and postgraduate institution for the Russian Navy and is located in Saint Petersburg. In 1827 Admiral Ivan Kruzenshtern initiated an Officers' Class at the Naval Cadet Corps. In 1862 the Class was reorganized into an Academic Course of Maritime Science. In 1877, to mark its fiftieth anniversary, the Class was renamed the Nikolaev Naval Academy (Nikolayevskaya Morskaya Akademiya) and in 1910 was completely detached from the Naval Cadet Corps.
