"Igreja" ("Church") is a single by Brazilian rock band Titãs, released in 1986, part of their ''Cabeça Dinossauro'' album. Lyrics and composition According to songwriter and then bassist and vocalist Nando Reis, the song was written on the acoustic guitar at his mother's house in the district of Butantã, São Paulo: By the time of the album's release, Reis said: Reception within the band It was one of the last songs to be selected for the album and it stirred controversy among the members themselves - vocalist Arnaldo Antunes, at first, didn't want to record it and would even leave the stage sometimes when the song was performed live. When the members had a meeting at vocalist Branco Mello's apartment to discuss the album's repertoire, vocalist, bassist and saxophonist Paulo Miklos also opposed the song's inclusion, but soon changed his mind as the band performed it live. ''Cabeça Dinossauro'' (Portuguese for ''Dinosaur Head'') is the third studio album by Brazilian rock band Titãs, released on 25 June 1986. It was their first album produced by Liminha, who was the director of WEA at the time of the album's recording, which facilitated the relationship between band and label; and their first gold album, certified as such in December 1986. Background In February 1986, before a show in São Paulo, vocalist Branco Mello told newspaper ''O Estado de S. Paulo'' that the then upcoming album would have a "more dry and raw rock" and a "more primitive, more visceral" sound. "Família" is the seventh single by Brazilian rock band Titãs, released in 1987. The song is about the everyday issues of a family. It was once covered by Molejo on their 1998 album '' Família''. The song was featured on the Rede Manchete telenovela '' Corpo Santo''. In 2013, bass player and vocalist Nando Reis (now an ex-member) recorded a new version of the song with his sons Théo and Sebastião. The new version is being used as the opening theme of the 2013 season of Rede Globo's Malhação. While Sebastião played acoustic guitar, Nando Reis and Théo sang, sharing the same microphone, like The Beatles used to do, "in order to create a more familiar atmosphere", according to Reis. Charles Gavin
Charles de Souza Gavin (born July 9, 1960) is a Brazilian drummer and music producer, perhaps best known for his 25-year tenure with rock band Titãs. Before Titãs, he had brief stints at Ira! and RPM. Early life and first works At age 8, his friends invited him to participate on the September 7 ( Brazil's Independence Day) festival. The problem was the absence of decent percussion instruments. So, the school decided to improvise these with kitchen utensils. But there was still an instrument remaining, which would be quite difficult for a not so skillful drummer to play. Gavin, who was already used to beat the table at school, was chosen for the job. The band, commanded by Gavin, won the originality prize. In 1975, at the year of 15, living in Jabaquara, Gavin joined ten neighbors, and during the weeks that preceded the Carnaval, they promoted noisy beats around the streets. Tony Bellotto
Antonio Carlos Liberalli Bellotto (; born June 30, 1960) is a Brazilian musician and writer, best known as the lead guitarist of Brazilian rock band Titãs. He has also written and released several books. Childhood Bellotto spent his childhood in the city of Assis, São Paulo. He decided to be a rock guitarist when he was a child. After hearing Jimi Hendrix albums, he composed his first songs on the guitar, while he explored other notable guitarists, like Keith Richards, Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton. He also had a passion for books. He explored writers like Rubem Fonseca, Jorge Amado, Ernest Hemingway, Herman Melville and his famous ''Moby-Dick''. When he was 14 years old, he was given his first guitar. Although very interested in Jovem Guarda and Yellow Submarine from The Beatles, Bellotto only entered deeply in the rock music one year later, on a trip to the United States. Marcelo Fromer
Marcelo Fromer (December 3, 1961 – June 13, 2001) was the guitarist of Brazilian rock band Titãs. One of the founding members and also the band's manager, he died in 2001, after being hit by a motorcycle while jogging. Early life and youth Marcelo Fromer grew up in São Paulo in a house frequently visited by friends like Branco Mello, whom he met in 1974, in the Hugo Sarmento school. When he was 15 years old, he discovered The Beatles, Chico Buarque and the Tropicália, and started having guitar lessons with Luiz Tati, of the group Rumo. While studying at Equipe school, he met Tony Bellotto and formed the Trio Mamão with him and Mello. As he hated singing, he was the only one dedicated exclusively to the acoustic guitar. Sérgio Britto (, born Sérgio de Britto Álvares Affonso(September 18, 1959) is a Brazilian musician, best known as a member of the rock band Titãs, for which he contributes with lead vocals, keyboards and, more recently, the bass guitar. He has also released three solo albums. Childhood Sérgio Britto is the only carioca of the group, but left Rio de Janeiro when he was a baby. He lived with his siblings Rui and Gláucia in Brasília when in 1964 the military took over Brazil.
