Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury
Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury (born 1 July 1955) is a Bangladeshi academic. He served as the 17th vice-chancellor of the University of Chittagong. Education and career Chowdhury earned his bachelor's and master's from the University of Chittagong. He completed his Ph.D. from the University of Tsukuba in 1988. Chowdhury is a professor of sociology at the University of Chittagong. He joined the university in 1982. He served as the pro-vice-chancellor of the university during 2013–15. The University of Chittagong () also known as Chittagong University (CU), is a public research university located in Chittagong, Bangladesh. It was established on 18 November 1966. It is the fifth oldest university of Bangladesh. Having an area of campus, CU is the largest university in Bangladesh. It is one of the four autonomous universities of Bangladesh. Facilities Library Chittagong University's collection of about 350,000 books, and over 40,000 bound journals is housed in a library built in 1990. Shireen Akhter
Shireen Akhter (born 1 May 1956) is a Bangladeshi academic. She was the first female vice chancellor of the University of Chittagong. Background and education Akhter was born on 1 May 1956 to a Bengali family of Muslim Chowdhuries in Eidgaon, Cox's Bazar subdivision, Chittagong District, East Pakistan. Her father was Afsar Kamal Chowdhury and mother was Begum Lutfunnahar Kamal. Akhter completed her SSC and HSC in 1973 and 1975 respectively. She earned her bachelor's and master's from the University of Chittagong in 1978 and 1981 respectively. In 1991, She earned her PhD from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Career Akhter was a member of Election Commission (EC) Search committee. She joined the University of Chittagong as a lecturer of Bangla department in 1996. In 2006, Akhter was promoted to professor. University Of Tsukuba
