Iela Mari
Iela Mari, born as Gabriela Ferrario (March 1931 – 29 January 2014), was an Italian, Milan-based illustrator and author of wordless children's books driven by a storyline consisting of only graphics, sometimes called "silent books." Life and work Gabriela (shortened to Iela) studied painting at Milan's Brera Academy, where she met her future husband, Enzo Mari, who was pursuing scenography at the time. They married in 1955. Iela Mari collaborated with her husband to publish her first book, ''The Red Balloon'', in 1968. They worked together on more books and she went on to create others alone. The predominant feature of her books is their lack of words and how they tell simple and poetic stories based on the strength of graphic refinement. Brera Academy
The Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (), also known as the or Brera Academy, is a state-run tertiary public academy of fine arts in Milan, Italy. It shares its history, and its main building, with the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan's main public museum for art. In 2010 an agreement was signed to move the accademia to a former military barracks, the Caserma Magenta in via Mascheroni. In 2018 it was announced that Caserma Magenta was no longer a viable option, with the former railway yard in Via Farini now under consideration as a potential venue for the campus extension. Enzo Mari
Enzo Mari (27 April 1932 – 19 October 2020) was an Italians, Italian modernist artist and furniture designer who is known to have influenced many generations of industrial designers. Early life and education Mari was born in Novara, Italy, and he studied at the Brera Academy in Milan, Italy from 1952 to 1956. Career He drew inspiration from the idealism of the Arts and Crafts movement and his political views as a communism, communist. From 1956 onward, he specialized in industrial design and created a portfolio of more than 2,000 works. The Bologna Children's Book Fair or La fiera del libro per ragazzi is the leading professional fair for children's books in the world. Since 1963, it is held yearly for four days in March or April in Bologna, Italy. It is the meeting place for all professionals involved with creating and publishing children's books, and is mainly used for the buying and selling of rights, both for translations and for derived products like movies or animated series.
