Idsteiner Kantorei
Idsteiner Kantorei (Idstein chorale) is a mixed choir in Idstein, Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, Germany. The group performs regularly in the Protestant Unionskirche in services and concerts, also in smaller churches of the region and internationally. They practice collaboration with other choirs for larger projects. History and location The Idsteiner Kantorei was founded by Edwin Müller in 1972, based on the church choir at the Unionskirche. He was succeeded by Carsten Koch, who is also lecturer of conducting at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt, in 2003. The choir performs in major services, such as Christmas, Easter and Konfirmation, and sings regular concerts, some in chamber formation in the smaller historic churches of the region. The historic Unionskirche had a 1783 , which was replaced in 1912 by an instrument of Walcker, but retaining the historic case (''Prospekt''). Christa Bonhoff
Christa Bonhoff is a German contralto and mezzo-soprano singer. Early life Bonhoff was born in Westphalia. Education Bonhoff studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik Hamburg with Annie Schoonus. Career Already as a student she joined the choir NDR Chor and worked as a guest for the Hamburgische Staatsoper. She has concentrated on singing in oratorios. Hermann Müller (Idstein)
Hermann Müller (17 October 1935 – 31 December 2013) was a German politician ( CDU), who served from 1978 to 2002 as mayor of Idstein. During his four terms, he worked for restoration of the town's framework houses, creation of a pedestrian area, building of a hall as a cultural centre and construction of bypass roads. In 2002, he won the festival Hessentag for Idstein, improving the infrastructure further. Johannes Hill (born 1988) is a German baritone in concert and in oratorios, who has performed internationally. Singing in choirs from age 10, he has performed major roles in oratorios, such as both Jesus and Pilate in Bach's Passions, and Pope Francis in the premiere of '' Laudato si'''. Gloria is a sacred choral composition by Karl Jenkins, completed in 2010. It is an extended setting of the Gloria part of the mass in Latin, on the text of the Gloria in three movements, interpolated with two movements on other texts, Psalm 150 in Hebrew and a song derived from biblical verses in English. Spoken passages from sacred text from four religious traditions are part of the composition. It was published by Boosey & Hawkes in 2010. Te Deum is a sacred choral composition by Karl Jenkins, written in 2008. It is an extended setting of the in Latin. Te Deum is often performed together with the composer's Gloria. History Jenkins composed the work on a commission by the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union in 2008 when Liverpool was European Capital of Culture. The text chosen for the celebration is the Latin , an early Christian hymn also known as the Ambrosian Hymn. Andreas Pruys (born in Kleve) is a German classical bass singer. Professional career Andreas Pruys studied singing and church music at the Folkwanghochschule in Essen. He worked as a church musician for several years, also as director of the music school in Emmerich. He has been a member of the choir NDR Chor since 2001.
