Idagaard
Idagaard is a manor house and estate located immediately south of Slagelse, Denmark. The estate was created by the businessman Constantin Brun from land that had previously belonged to Antvorskov and is named after his daughter Ida Brun. It is now owned by the Idagaard Foundation. History Early owners, 17971810 Antvorskov Hovedgård and nearby Galensteen were acquired in 1799 by Constantin Brun. He imported several families from Switzerland and established a production of Swiss cheese which was mainly exported to overseas markets. He also modernized the management with the introduction of chopping and threshing machines. Bruun was married to Friederike Brun, a leading salonist of her time. Bruun created four small estates from part of the land that had previously belonged to Antvorskov Hovedgård, naming them Idagaard, Charlottendal, Augustendal and Karlsgaard after his children. Charlottendal
Charlottendal is a historic building and estate situated south of Slagelse, Denmark. Created by Constantin Brun in 1799, it is today part of Antvorskov barracks, Antvorskov Barracks. Slagelse
Slagelse () is a town on Zealand, Denmark. The town is the seat of Slagelse Municipality, and is the biggest town of the municipality. It is located 15 km east of Korsør, 16 km north-east of Skælskør, 33 km south-east of Kalundborg and 14 km west of Sorø. History Slagelse has been inhabited since at least the Viking Age, where it was a Pagan site. Trelleborg, a ring castle, was built near the current location of Slagelse in 980, which made the location strategically important. A church was built at Slagelse's current location in the 1000s. Around this time, coins were minted in Slagelse. Antvorskov was built in the 1100s by Valdemar I, who had recently acquired Zealand. Antvorskov Barracks
Antvorskov barracks is a barracks located near Slagelse in Denmark. It was established in 1969 and currently houses the 2nd Brigade and the Guard Hussar Regiment including its mounted squadron. The latter was moved here from Næstved Kaserne in August 2003. Danish Asiatic Company ( Danish: Asiatisk Kompagni) was a Danish trading company established in 1730 to revive Danish trade on the Danish East Indies and China following the closure of the Danish East India Company. It was granted a 40-year monopoly on Danish trade on Asia in 1732 and taken over by the Danish government in 1772. It was headquartered at Asiatisk Plads in Copenhagen. Pierre Paul Ferdinand Mourier
Pierre Paul Mourier (5 August 1746 30 December 1836) was a Danish Asiatic Company trader who spent 15 years in Canton. He created a Danish-Chinese dictionary of more than 10,000 works. He owned Aagaard from 1787 to 1896. Early life and education Mourier was born in Copenhagen as the youngest of 11 children of Jean Ferdinand Mourier (1792-) and Anna Henriette Mazar. His father, who was born in Switzerland as the son of a French nobleman who was forced to flee after the Edict of Nantes, served as minister of the French Reformed Church in Copenhagen. Mourier was orphaned early, losing his father at the age of eight and his mother at the age of eleven. Just before the death of his mother, he had enrolled at the Royal Danish Army Academy. After five years of study and training at the academy he transferred to an infantry regiment with ran of Fændrik (the most junior officer of a unit).
