Icolo E Bengo Province
Icolo e Bengo is a province of Angola. It was created on 5 September 2024 from Luanda Province. Its capital is Catete. Geography and climate Icolo e Bengo borders the Angolan provinces of Luanda to the northwest, Bengo to the north, Cuanza Norte to the east, and Cuanza Sul to the south. It also borders the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The boundary between Icolo e Bengo and Luanda follows the Cuanza River, the Kikuxi Canal, and the and highways. Icolo e Bengo is located on the floodplains of the Bengo, Cuanza and Longa rivers. The province is located in the Angolan Scarp savanna and woodlands ecoregion, and it contains Quiçama National Park. Icolo e Bengo experiences a tropical climate with summer rain. Provinces Of Angola
Angola is divided into twenty-one provinces, known in Portuguese language, Portuguese as ''províncias''. On 14 August 2024, Angola's National Assembly (Angola), National Assembly approved a law to create three new provinces: * Cuando Cubango Province was divided into Cuando Province and Cubango Province; * Icolo e Bengo Province was separated from Luanda Province; and * Moxico Leste Province was separated from Moxico Province. This law went into effect with its publication in the official gazette of Angola on 5 September 2024, and are expected to become operational in 2025. Quiçama
Quiçama (Portuguese spelling), Quissama or Kisama (Bantu spelling) is a municipality in the province of Icolo e Bengo in Angola. Prior to the creation of Icolo e Bengo in 2024, it had been one of the nine municipalities that made up the province of Luanda. It covers an area of and its population as of 2014 is 26,546. The municipal seat is the village of Muxima. Quiçama is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Viana and Icolo e Bengo, to the east by the municipalities of Cambambe, Libolo and Quibala, to the south by the municipalities of Quilenda and Porto Amboim, and to the west by the Atlantic Ocean.
