Overview According to the Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 2008 of the Election Commission of India, Ichagarh Assembly constituency covers Ichagarh, Chandil and Nimdih police stations. It is an open constituency. Ichagarh Assembly constituency is part of Ranchi (Lok Sabha constituency). Sabita Mahato is the current MLA representing the constituency. Jharkhand (; ) is a States and union territories of India, state in East India, eastern India. The state shares its border with the states of West Bengal to the east, Chhattisgarh to the west, Uttar Pradesh to the northwest, Bihar to the north and Odisha to the south. 2009 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Election
The 2009 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election resulted in a fragmented assembly, with no single party achieving a clear majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) each secured 18 seats, while the Indian National Congress won 14 seats. The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) (JVM-P) obtained 11 seats, and several smaller parties, including the All Jharkhand Students’ Union (AJSU) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), captured a few seats as well. Shibu Soren of the JMM was able to form a government in December 2009 with support from various smaller parties, including the BJP. 2005 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Election
The 2005 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases from 3 to 23 February 2005 to elect the 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. It was the first election held in Jharkhand to elect the Second Jharkhand Legislative Assembly; the First/Interim Jharkhand Legislative Assembly was constituted based on the 2000 Bihar Legislative Assembly election. Jharkhand was created by carving out the southern districts of Bihar on 15 November 2000. The election resulted in a hung assembly like the first one. No single party or pre-election alliance got the majority. The Bharatiya Janata Party become the biggest party by winning 30 seats. 1995 Bihar Legislative Assembly Election
The 11th Bihar Legislative Assembly elections were held in March 1995, to elect the 324 members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Janata Dal got a decisive victory in the state; political manoeuvre ensured Lalu Prasad Yadav's victory in the chief ministership. According to political scientist Sanjay Kumar, this election set a different trend in caste based politics of the state of Bihar, as in this election, there were two main political blocs in the state contesting for power.
