Gangneung Gymnasium
Gangneung Gymnasium () is a multi-purpose indoor arena, located in the coastal city of Gangneung, South Korea. It was opened in 1998 for Ice hockey at the 1999 Asian Winter Games, ice hockey at the 1999 Asian Winter Games. The seating capacity is 3,500. It is converted into ice surface when needed, while the underground floor is a permanent ice rink. It was used for the 2009 Mount Titlis World Women's Curling Championship, 2009 World Women's Curling Championships, 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games, 2017 World Junior Curling Championships, and 2017 World Wheelchair Curling Championship. It was used for both the 2018 Winter Olympics and 2018 Winter Paralympics as the venue for curling and wheelchair curling. It also was used for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics as the venue for curling. Dmitri Sergeyevich Upper (; born July 27, 1978) is a Kazakhstani former professional ice hockey center. He also holds Russian citizenship. Career Upper was selected by the New York Islanders in the 5th round (136th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, after scoring 20 points and 50 penalty minutes in his first season in the Russian Superleague with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. He was traded to Ak Bars Kazan midway through the 2000–01 season, and joined Spartak Moscow the following year. He had a career high 16 goals, as well as 76 penalty minutes in his first year with the club. He played four seasons with CSKA Moscow, scoring 27 points in 2005–06, before rejoining Spartak Moscow in 2007. Nikolai Alexandrovich Antropov (; born February 18, 1980) is a Kazakhstani-Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets. Yerlan Yerlesuly Sagymbayev (, ''Erlan Erlesūly Sağymbaev''; born April 5, 1970) is a Kazakhstani former professional ice hockey player, and head coach. Playing career Yerlan Sagymbayev is a graduate of the Ust-Kamenogorsk ice hockey school. He is a two-time champion of the USSR Junior Championships in the squad of the Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 1987, he awarded as a best young forward and invited to the USSR national youth team. In 1988, he was a bronze medalist of the Viking Cup in Calgary.
