Ibrahim El Khoury
Ibrahim E. El Khoury (; July 20, 1936 – July 28, 2013) was a Lebanese director and producer who was chairman of the Télé Liban television network from 1999 until his death. Early life He started at CLT ( Compagnie libanaise de Télévision ex-Tele Liban) in 1959 with the rise of the Lebanese television as a studio supervisor at the Lebanese national TV, he was at the same time producer and presenter of a variety show on the same channel. Career Selected productions: El Khoury directed the Arabic version of '' the Hunchback of Notre Dame'' by Victor Hugo''"الاخرس"'' (number of episodes:13) along with the TV series ''"عليا وعصام"'' (number of episodes:13) which he also produced. Émile Lahoud
Émile Jamil Lahoud (born 12 January 1936) is a Lebanese politician who served as the 11th president of Lebanon from 1998 to 2007. During his presidency, the Israeli occupation of Southern Lebanon, that had lasted since 1982, ended in May 2000. He downplayed sectarianism and rearmed the Lebanese army, with help from Syria. Lahoud was closely allied to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian occupation of Lebanon, and was seen as playing a key role in preserving the occupation. Early life Émile Lahoud was born in Baabdat on 12 January 1936. However, his birthplace is given as Beirut by the Armed Forces. He is the youngest son of General and former minister Jamil Lahoud. His mother, Andrenee Bajakian, is of Armenian descent from the Armenian-populated village of Kesab in Syria. The National Order of the Cedar () is the highest Order (honour), state order of Lebanon, established on 31 December 1936. It is offered in five grades. Beirut Arab University (BAU) () is a Lebanese private university mainly located in Beirut, Lebanon. It was founded by the Lebanese Waqf El-Bir wal Ihsan Society in 1960. Charlotte Wazen El Khoury (; born June 23, 1942) is a Lebanese former television personality and presenter. She worked from 1963 to 1990 on various TV shows and radio stations. Beginnings Born in a large family, Wazen is the third of six children. At school, she was often praised for her ease in public speaking and presentation. She started working at Compagnie libanaise de Télévision (CLT) when she was 18, presenting TV adverts. A neighbor who worked in TV production encouraged her to apply for a job on TV. Though her father, an army officer, did not like the idea, he agreed to accompany her to the interview. As soon as he entered the studio, he said to a neighbor who was there, "Make her fail". Prosper Mérimée
Prosper Mérimée (; 28 September 1803 – 23 September 1870) was a French writer in the movement of Romanticism, one of the pioneers of the novella, a short novel or long short story. He was also a noted archaeologist and historian, an important figure in the history of architectural preservation. He is best known for his novella ''Carmen'', which became the basis of Bizet's opera ''Carmen''. He learned Russian, a language for which he had great affection, before translating the work of several notable Russian writers, including Pushkin and Gogol, into French. From 1830 until 1860 he was the inspector of French historical monuments, responsible for the protection of many historic sites, including the medieval citadel of Carcassonne and the restoration of the façade of the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris.
