The Iberdrola Open was a European Tour golf tournament which was played in 2010 and 2011 at Pula Golf Club, Son Servera on the island of Mallorca in Spain. The tournament was cancelled in 2012 due to lack of sponsorship. The venue had previously been the host of the Mallorca Classic, a former tournament on the European Tour. The prize fund in the first year was Euro, € 800,000 (about United States dollar, US$1.01 million). Mallorca Classic
The Mallorca Classic was a men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour, held between 2003 and 2007 at Pula Golf in Mallorca. It marked the return of the tour to the island, having previously played host to the Open de Baleares between 1988 and 1995. In 2003 it was a dual-ranking event which also featured on the Challenge Tour calendar, before becoming a full European Tour event in 2004. From 2005 to 2007 it was the last tournament on the regular schedule before the "tour championship", the Volvo Masters The Volvo Masters was the concluding official money event of the European Tour season until 2009, when it was replaced by the Dubai World Championship. 2010 European Tour
The 2010 European Tour was the 39th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 2010 There were many changes from the 2009 season, including six new tournaments; they were the Africa Open in South Africa, the returning Avantha Masters in India which had been cancelled in 2009, the Trophée Hassan II in Morocco, the Iberdrola Open Cala Millor Mallorca and the Andalucía Valderrama Masters in Spain, and the Vivendi Cup in France. Lost from the schedule were the European Open, the Mercedes-Benz Championship, the Johnnie Walker Classic, the Australian Masters, the Indonesia Open and the Volvo World Match Play Championship. Chris Wood (golfer)
Christopher James Wood (born 26 November 1987) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. He was the low amateur in the 2008 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale and tied for third in the following year's tournament held at Turnberry. Amateur career Wood was born in Bristol, England. He went to school at Golden Valley Primary School in Nailsea between the ages of 4 and 11, before leaving to join Backwell School. He began playing golf at a young age. He was a keen footballer with aspirations to play for Bristol City Football Club but following a serious knee injury he devoted himself to golf. He became a member at the Long Ashton Golf Club near Bristol at the age of 9 and obtained a single-figure handicap by age 12. Wood was the English Amateur Order of Merit winner in 2007 and 2008. David Lynn (golfer)
David Anthony Lynn (born 20 October 1973) is an English professional golfer who played mainly on the European Tour, but took up full-time membership on the PGA Tour for the 2013 season. He won the 1994 Greek Amateur Championship, where he finished eight shots ahead of David Howell. He turned professional in 1995. Lynn won three times in his professional career. His best European Tour Order of Merit finish was 18th in 2012, and he reached number 34 on the Official World Golf Ranking in 2013. He notably finished second in the 2012 PGA Championship, eight strokes behind winner Rory McIlroy on five under par after consecutive rounds of 68 over the weekend. The 2012 European Tour was the 41st season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 2012 Prior to the start of the 2011 season, the tour had announced their intention to realign the schedule with the calendar. As a result, in 2012 there were several changes from the previous season. There was initially one new tournament in 2012, the ISPS Handa Perth International, and several tournaments were dropped: the Castelló Masters, the Iskandar Johor Open, and the Alfred Dunhill Championship, which was played in December as part of the 2013 season.
