The Ibar ( sr-cyrl, Ибар, ), also known as the Ibër and Ibri (), is a river that flows through eastern Montenegro, northern Kosovo and central Serbia, with a total length of . The river begins in the Hajla mountain, in Rožaje, eastern Montenegro, and passes through southwestern Serbia and northern Kosovo, where it leads back into Serbia to flow into the West Morava river near Kraljevo, central Serbia. The Ibar belongs to the Black Sea drainage basin. Its own drainage area is , with an average discharge of 60 m3/s at the mouth. It is not navigable. Etymology The name is likely derived from Greek, given that the river's ancient name was ''Hiberus''. Ibar () is a nature reserve in Rila National Park, located in the Rila mountain range in southwestern Bulgaria. It was declared in February 1985 to protect relict plants and rare animal species. It spans a territory of 2262 ha or 22.62 km2. Geography Ibar is situated in northeastern Rila in the upper valleys of several small right tributaries of the river Maritsa. The homonymous summit of Ibar (2,664 m) lies less than a kilometer south of the reserve’s southwesternmost corner, outside of its boundaries. Its southwestern limits reach the summit of Belmeken (2,626 m). Administratively, it is part of the municipalities of Kostenets and Dolna Banya, both in Sofia Province. Rila (, ) is the highest mountain range of Bulgaria, the Balkans, Balkan Peninsula, and Southeast Europe. The Ibar Rocks are two rocks located east of Bonert Rock and southeast of Canto Point, Greenwich Island, in the South Shetland Islands. The names "Islote Ibar" and "Islote Teniente Ibar" appearing on Chilean hydrographic charts in the 1950s refer to the larger and western rock. The recommended name "Ibar Rocks" includes a submerged outlier to the northeast of the larger rock. State Road 22, commonly known as Ibar Highway ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Ибарска магистрала, Ibarska magistrala), is an IB-class road, connecting Belgrade with Šumadija and Western Serbia and finally with Montenegro at Špiljani border crossing. It starts with Orlovača interchange in Belgrade's municipality of Čukarica and is going through several major municipalities such as Ljig, Gornji Milanovac, Preljina (town in the municipality of Čačak), Kraljevo and Novi Pazar.
