Ian Turner (Australian Political Activist)
Ian Alexander Hamilton Turner (1922–1978) was an Australian political activist, serving important roles in both the Communist Party of Australia and Australian Labour Party. As a leading historian, he wrote the book ''Industrial Labour and Politics'', which examined the Australian labour politics. Early life Ian Turner was born on 10 March 1922 at East Malvern, Melbourne. His parents were Francis Herbert Blackley Turner, a wheat farmer, and Nina Florence, née Lang. He attended Nhill State School, Geelong College, and the University of Melbourne (LL.B., 1948; B.A., 1949), where he was exposed to political debates on topics about the Spanish Civil War, fascism, and communism. Ian Turner (footballer, Born 1953)
Ian Turner (born 17 January 1953) is an English former footballer, who won the FA Cup when he played for Southampton as goalkeeper in the 1976 FA Cup Final. Early career Ian was one of 10 children and originally played at centre-half for his local team, South Bank. During a match against Huddersfield Reserves he went in goal as a replacement and played so well that he was noticed by Huddersfield Town's manager, Ian Greaves, who signed him as a professional in October 1970. He transferred to Grimsby Town in March 1972 where he first became acquainted with manager Lawrie McMenemy. Southampton In March 1974, Southampton were seeking a replacement for long-time goalkeeper, Eric Martin, so McMenemy, who was by now Southampton's manager, went back to his former club, Grimsby, to sign Ian Turner. Ian Turner (Irish Footballer)
Ian Turner (born 30 April 1989) is an Irish former professional footballer who played in the League of Ireland throughout his career. He started his career with Cork City, who he spent six and a half seasons with. He also spent two and a half years with Limerick and St Patrick's Athletic where he spent a year and a half, before playing for Cobh Ramblers for three years where he retired in January 2022. Career Youth Turner began his local career with Wilton United, where he was spotted by Cork City scouts. He made his way through City's youth ranks and was part of a hugely successful side that won the National Under 21 League. Ian John Turner (born 18 July 1968 in Denmead, Hampshire) is a retired English cricketer. Turner was a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Turner made his Hampshire first-class debut against Glamorgan in 1989 at the County Ground. The four day format of the game was where Turner was most at home. It was not until the 1992 season that Turner made his one-day debut for the club against Gloucestershire. After the 1993 County Championship season Turner was released by Hampshire, having struggled to make regular appearances in the first team. Turner played 24 first-class and 17 one-day matches for the club, taking 54 wickets at an average of 36.38. Ian Turner (born in Warwick, Queensland on 28 May 1970) is an Australian businessman and former rugby league footballer. Turner was a Brisbane Broncos scholarship player in 1991, in conjunction with Past Brothers, Brothers RLFC, coming from Runaway Bay, Queensland, Runaway Bay RLFC after Colts Group 18 Grand Final Win. He was a member Souths Logan Magpies, Souths RLFC for most of his career. He played in the centres and back row. Turner signed with the Super League for the 1995–96 season playing for French team Paris Saint-Germain Rugby League, Paris Saint-Germain in the first Super League match worldwide at Stade Sébastien Charléty in Paris against the Sheffield Eagles. Ian Douglas Turner (born 10 October 1949) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. Speedway career Turner reached the final of the British Speedway Championship in 1979.
