Ian Harnett
Ian Gerald Harnett (13 December 1926 – June 2001) was a Scottish amateur Association football, football right back who made over 300 appearances in the Scottish Football League, Scottish League for Queen's Park F.C., Queen's Park. He also served on the club's committee and as president. He was capped by Scotland at Scotland national amateur football team, amateur level. Personal life Harnett was educated at St Joseph's College, Dumfries and studied engineering at Glasgow University. He also played cricket for Forfarshire Cricket Club, Forfarshire and Kilmarnock. St Joseph's College, Dumfries
St Joseph's College in Dumfries, South West Scotland, is a Roman Catholic secondary school. It began as a Catholic boys' boarding school run by Marist Brothers. History St Joseph's College was founded in 1875 as both a boarding school and the first Novitiate for the training of Marist Brothers in Great Britain. Brother Walfrid, the man who founded Celtic Football Club, also helped to found the school. The school became part of the state school system in 1981, but still accepts Catholic students as priority. The school was a boys' school to begin with, and the first female pupils were admitted as day pupils in the early 1970s. Buildings The school was originally located elsewhere in Dumfries but was moved to its current location when a local businessman bought the land and donated it to the Marist Brothers. Scottish Football League Second Division
The Scottish Football League Second Division was the third tier of the Scottish football league system between 1975 and 2013. History The Second Division was created in 1975, as part of a wider reconstruction of the Scottish Football League (SFL). Prior to 1975, the SFL had been split into two divisions (Division One and Division Two). The effect of the reconstruction was to split these two divisions into three, with the top flight named the Scottish Football League Premier Division, Premier Division, second tier the Scottish Football League First Division, First Division, and a new third tier was created known as the Second Division. A fourth tier, known as the Scottish Football League Third Division, Third Division, was created in 1994. 1955–56 Scottish Division Two
The 1955–56 Scottish Division Two was won by Queen's Park who, along with second placed Ayr United, were promoted to Division One. Montrose finished bottom. In the summer of 1955, the Scottish League expanded from 32 clubs to 37 clubs.
