Ian Fyfe (Pakistani Journalist)
Ian Fyfe (born 1946 or 1947; died 5 August 2005) was a Pakistani cricketer, coach and sports journalist. He was educated at St Patrick's High School, Karachi. A bowler at St. Patrick's, under the eye of Jacob Harris (cricketer), Jacob Harris, Fyfe was as a leading wicket taker for the Karachi Goan Association. He was among the top slow, left arm spinning bowlers of Karachi at that time. He worked as a playing coach for the Karachi Goan Association cricket team. Fyfe enjoyed serving as the Master of Ceremonies at weddings. Fyfe worked as a senior sports reporter for ''Dawn (newspaper), Dawn'' for many years. He had earlier worked at the Morning News during the 1970s. He died from heart failure and complications from injuries in the Liaquat National Hospital on 5 August 2005 at age 58. He was on his way home on his scooter on 30 June when a car hit him on Shara-e-Faisal. The funeral service was held at Christ the King Church on 7 August 2005. Sports Journalism
Sports journalism is a form of writing that reports on matters pertaining to sporting topics and competitions. Sports journalism has its roots in coverage of horse racing and boxing in the early 1800s, mainly targeted towards elites, and into the 1900s transitioned into an integral part of the news business with newspapers having dedicated sports sections. The increased popularity of sports amongst the middle and lower class led to the more coverage of sports content in publications. There are many different forms of sports journalism, ranging from play-by-play and game recaps to analysis and investigative journalism on important developments in the sport.
