Ian Fok Chun-wan
Ian Fok Chun-wan, SBS, JP (; born 12 May 1949) is the Chief Executive of the Fok Ying Tung Foundation and the life honorary chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce. He is the incumbent Hong Kong delegate to the National People's Congress. Biography Son of famous pro-China tycoon Henry Fok, he graduated from the University of British Columbia with the Master of Business Administration. He was made Justice of the Peace in 2003 and was awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) in 2005. He was first elected to the 11th National People's Congress in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011 and 2017. National People's Congress
The National People's Congress (NPC) is the highest organ of state power of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The NPC is the only branch of government in China, and per the principle of unified power, all state organs from the State Council to the Supreme People's Court (SPC) are subject to it. With 2,977 members in 2023, it is the largest legislative body in the world. The NPC is elected for a term of five years. Henry Fok Ying Tung (10 May 1923 – 28 October 2006) was an entrepreneur and politician in Hong Kong. From 1993 until his death, Fok served as Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. He was one of the Hong Kong's wealthiest persons. Biography Fok was born on 10 May 1923 in Hong Kong to an ethnic Tanka family. Fok's father died in a boating accident when he was just seven. He studied at Queen's College, but was not able to finish junior high due to the Japanese invasion in 1937. He worked as a labourer during that time while helping to run the family's small boat business. Business After the war, he became a successful businessman. His business interests included restaurants, real estate, casinos and petroleum. The All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) is a people's organization that represents many youth groups in China, and is managed by the Communist Youth League of China. It was founded on 4 May 1949. Former paramount leaders and General Secretaries of the Chinese Communist Party Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin were both members. History The All-China Youth Foundation was originally named the All-China Federation of Democratic Youth. It developed because the CCP determined that while it had the Young Communist League to focus on the development of youths deemed politically advanced, it needed a broader-based organization as well.
