Ian Gareth Butler (born 24 November 1981) is a New Zealand cricketer who has dual UK citizenship. Butler was born in Middlemore in the Auckland urban area. He has represented New Zealand in all three formats of the game internationally. He is currently the bowling coach of Pakistan Super League franchise Islamabad United. Domestic career At the age of 17, he had his first professional contract with Penrith in Lake District. The following year, he played for Purley in London. He played for Northern Districts between 2001 and 2008 before moving to Otago, representing them in the 2009 Champions League Twenty20 in India. He had stints in English county cricket with Gloucestershire in 2003 and Kent in 2004. In 2007 Butler played for Harborne Cricket Club in Birmingham, and coached some boys from King Edward's School Birmingham, Edgbaston. Ian Butler (born 1 February 1944 in Darton, Barnsley) is an English former professional footballer who played in the Football League as a left winger for Rotherham United, Hull City, York City and Barnsley. His son, Martin Butler, also played for York City. Club career Butler began his career at Rotherham United where he established himself down the left wing and played alongside players such as Ken Houghton in a highly promising team with a significant number of locally developed players. Together with Houghton, he moved to Hull City during the 1964–65 season, much to the displeasure of Rotherham's fans. He became part of a formidable attacking line including Ray Henderson, Ken Wagstaff and Chris Chilton, whose performances took Hull City to the Third Division title in 1966 and established the side as a Second Division force in the 1960s and 1970s. Ian "Rocky" Butler (born August 7, 1979) is a former quarterback who last played professionally in the Canadian Football League. Early life and education Butler was born August 7, 1979, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and played high school football at Dieruff High School in Allentown. He then attended Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York on Long Island, where he started two seasons as quarterback for the Hofstra team. In 2001, he finished second in voting for the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. CFL career In May 2002, Butler was signed as a free agent by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the fourth-string quarterback that year.
