Ian Bauckham
Sir Ian Roger Bauckham (born 7 March 1962) is a British educator and public servant. Born in Hornchurch in 1962, Bauckham was educated at Downing College, Cambridge where he read modern and mediæval languages, graduating in 1984, and then the University of Nottingham where he gained his PGCE in 1985. He subsequently took an MA in education at the Institute of Education of the University of London in 1994, and an MA in philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London in 1997. Bauckham served as President of the Association of School and College Leaders for 2013–14. , Bauckham has been Headteacher of Bennett Memorial Diocesan School since 2004, the CEO of the Tenax Schools academy trust since 2015, and serves on the board of Ofqual since March 2018 and as its executive chair since January 2021. Ofqual
The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) is a non-ministerial government department that regulates qualifications, exams and tests in England. Colloquially and publicly, Ofqual is often referred to as the exam "watchdog". History Ofqual was established in interim form on 8 April 2008 as part of Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), taking over the regulatory functions that had previously been undertaken by the QCA directly through its regulation and standards division. The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), formerly the Secondary Heads Association (SHA), is a UK professional association for leaders of schools and colleges. History The Association of Head Mistresses (AHM) was founded in 1874. The Headmasters' Association (HMA) was founded in 1890. The Secondary Heads Association was formed in 1977 by the amalgamation of these two organisations. In 1983, deputy heads were allowed to join with other senior teaching staff following in the early 1990s and business managers in 2005. By 2005, two-thirds of the membership were not heads but other senior staff, and the association also had a membership in the college sector, so the name was changed in January 2006 to the current name. Commander Of The Order Of British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. An academy school in England is a state-funded school which is directly funded by the Department for Education and independent of local authority control. Bennett Memorial Diocesan School is an all ability co-educational academy in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, which caters for students from age 11 to 18. History The school was founded on 17 October 1951 by Lady Elena Bennett of Matfield and Christopher M. Chavasse Bishop of Rochester. Lady Bennett donated the funding for the school in memory of her late husband, Sir Thomas Bennett. The school opened to 400 students and only 18 teachers on 8 January 1953.
