International Lethwei Federation Japan, also known as ILFJ, is a Japanese Lethwei Promoter (entertainment), promotion company with headquarters in Tokyo. History In 2016, the ILFJ acquired a ‘’Grade-A’’ promoter licence from the Myanmar Traditional Lethwei Federation, allowing them to organize traditional Lethwei events in Japan. ILFJ then entered into a partnership with Myanmar businessman Mr. Wunna CEO of Myanmar Media Group (MMG), the organizer of the ''Myanmar Lethwei World Championship'', to share fighters and co-organize the Lethwei events in Japan. The first ILFJ event titled 2016 in ILFJ#Lethwei Grand Prix Japan 2016, Lethwei Grand Prix in Japan 2016, was held on 27 October 2016 at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Dave Leduc
Dave Leduc (born 13 December 1991) is a Canadian-Burmese Lethwei fighter. He is a former six-time Lethwei world champion who held the Lethwei Golden Belt#Openweight champions, Openweight Lethwei World Championship and was undefeated under Lethwei#Traditional rules, traditional rules ''KO to win''. In 2014, Leduc first gained widespread notoriety by winning his fight in the controversial Prison Fight inside Klongpai Central Prison, Klongpai maximum security prison in Thailand. 2016 was the first year in the history of the ILFJ, a Japanese Lethwei promotion. The events were broadcast through television agreements with regional channels in Japan. Korakuen Hall
is a sports arena in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan, which has hosted boxing, professional wrestling, kickboxing, mixed martial arts and Lethwei matches. History On April 16, 1962, the Korakuen Hall was officially opened with a capacity of approximately 2,000 people. It is located inside the Tokyo Dome City, one of Tokyo's biggest attractions. The venue hosted the boxing events for the 1964 Summer Olympics. On March 30, 1993, the Japanese kickboxing promotion K-1 held its first event K-1 Sanctuary I at Korakuen Hall. In March 2011, as the hall suffered structural damage in the Tōhoku earthquake. Events including a World Boxing Council triple female world title fight were postponed or canceled. The repair work was completed on March 18. The Hall was closed until the next day, then gradually resumed a variety of events. Lethwei (; International Phonetic Alphabet, IPA: ) or Burmese boxing is a Full contact fighting, full contact combat sport originating from Myanmar and is considered as one of the most brutal martial arts in the world.} * * * * * * Lethwei fighters use stand-up striking techniques such as kicks, knees, elbows and punches, and the use of headbutts is also permitted.
