The IFF World Ranking is a ranking of the national teams of member countries of the International Floorball Federation. Ranking system The ranking is based on the standings of the two most recent Floorball World Championships. That is 2022 and 2024 for men and 2021 and 2023 for women. The ranking is also used to determine the seeding of the teams for the next Floorball World Championships and other competitions like World Games. National champions from the top four ranked countries compete at the Champions Cup. International Floorball Federation
The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is the worldwide governing body for the sport of floorball. It was founded on 12 April 1986 in Huskvarna, Sweden, by representatives from the national floorball associations of Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. It is based in Helsinki, Finland. The president of the federation is Filip Šuman. The federation became a member of Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) in 2000. It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee, IOC and is an ordinary member of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations, ARISF since 2008. Floorball
Floorball (also known by other names) is a sport played with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. It is played indoors with sticks and a hollow plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). As of 2019, there were about 377,000 registered floorball players worldwide, up from around 300,000 in 2014. 2022 Men's World Floorball Championships
The 2022 Men's World Floorball Championships was the 14th Men's World Floorball Championship, World Championships in men's floorball. The tournament was played in Zürich and Winterthur, Switzerland, and took place during 5–13 November 2022. Sweden men's national floorball team, Sweden defended their title against Czech Republic men's national floorball team, Czechia, which took their first silver medal since 2004 Men's World Floorball Championships, WFC 2004. Finland men's national floorball team, Finland earned the bronze after defeating Switzerland men's national floorball team, Switzerland. 2024 Men's World Floorball Championships
The 2024 Men's World Floorball Championships was the 15th World Championships in men's floorball. It was held from 7 to 15 December 2024 in Malmö, Sweden. The city had already hosted group stage of 2006 Championships. Sweden did not defend their two-time championship after losing to Finland in the finals 4–5 in overtime, after having led the game 4–0 at one stage in the match. Together with a loss against the Finns in a group game, these were the first ever defeats for Sweden on home turf. The Czech Republic for the first time won their group without losing a point. Unlike in the previous championship, however, Czechs did not make it past the semifinals and finished in third place after defeating Latvia. Latvia knocked out Switzerland in the quarterfinals. 2023 Women's World Floorball Championships
The 2023 Women's World Floorball Championships was the 14th edition of this Women's World Floorball Championship, competition. It was held from 2 to 10 December 2023 in Singapore, marking the first time since the 2005 Women's World Floorball Championships, 2005 that the event was held outside Europe. Sweden women's national floorball team, Sweden were the 8-time defending champion, and they made it nine with a 6–4 win over Finland women's national floorball team, Finland in the final. The tournament was criticized by sports journalists outside the host country due a low local promotion and consequently a very low ticket sales. Floorball At The World Games
Floorball was contested at the 1997 World Games as an invitational sport. It returned to the World Games as an official sport in the 2017 edition. Only a men's tournament was featured in the 1997, 2017 and 2022 editions. Starting with the 2025 edition, a women's tournament will be held too. Champions Cup (floorball)
The Champions Cup is floorball tournament organized by the International Floorball Federation for the best clubs from the top four countries according to IFF World Ranking. Since 2019, those are Sweden, the Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland, both for men and women. The tournament culminates every year in January both for men's and women's teams, that won in the previous season in their national league and cup competitions. That means, there are eight men's and eight women's teams in the tournament in total. In various formats, the tournament took place 30 times, the last time in 2025. The first tournament was played in 1993. The new format with eight teams is used since 2024. Swedes won most titles, 24 in men's and 25 in women's tournaments. Among the teams, Sweden's IBF Falun are the most successful with five wins in the men's category and IKSU with seven in the women's.
