Königssee Bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton Track
The Königssee bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a venue in Germany for bobsleigh, luge and skeleton (sport), skeleton, located in Schönau am Königssee, Bavaria, near Königssee (German for "King's Lake") and the border with Austria. Completed in 1968, it is the first permanent, artificially refrigeration, refrigerated bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track in the world. In July 2021, the track was severely damaged by the 2021 European floods, floods that affected the European continent, and is currently under reconstruction. Jānis Strenga
Janis Strenga (born 5 February 1986) is a former Latvian bobsledder, brakeman who has competed since 2008. Career He won a gold medal in the four-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2016 in Igls, Austria (with pilot Oskars Melbārdis, Daumants Dreiškens and Arvis Vilkaste). It was the first ever World Championships gold medal in bobsled for Latvia. He also won a bronze medal in the four-man event at FIBT World Championships 2015 in Winterberg, Germany as well as 2012 World Junior Championship title at both two-man and four-man events. Christopher Spring
Christopher Spring (born 6 March 1984) is an Australian-Canadian 4 x Olympic bobsledder who has competed since 2008. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, he competed for Australia in the two-man event. He switched allegiance to Canada later in 2010, and has since competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics, 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics for Canada. Career Spring competed for Australia over three seasons and finished 29th in the two-man event at the FIBT World Championships 2009 in Lake Placid. Markus Sammer (born 20 May 1988) is an Austrian bobsledder. Career Sammer competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Austria. He teamed with driver Benjamin Maier in the two-man event, finishing 22nd, and with Maier, Stefan Withalm, Angel Somov and Sebastian Heufler in the four-man event, finishing 21st. Evan Weinstock (born October 30, 1991) is an American Olympic bobsledder. Early life Weinstock was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. His father, Arnold Weinstock, is Jewish. His mother was not. He told ''Jewish Sports Review'' that he was raised without a faith, but he had no problem being identified as a Jewish athlete. Justin Bradley Olsen (born April 16, 1987) is an American bobsledder who has competed since 2008. He won two medals at the 2009 FIBT World Championships in Lake Placid, New York, with a gold in the four-man and a bronze in the mixed team events. Olsen's best event bobsleigh World Cup finish was second on three occasions in 2008–09. Olsen won a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics in the four-man bobsled with driver Steve Holcomb. Joel Fearon
Joel Fearon (born 11 October 1988) is a British sprinter and bobsledder. He represents the Birchfield Harriers and he is recognisable in the National Trials for wearing a black vest and lycra shorts. His coach is Michael Khmel, who also coached British Sprinter Craig Pickering. His personal best for the 100m, 9.96 seconds, places him 6th on the UK all-time list. In addition to pursuing a sprinting career, Fearon has also competed in bobsleigh since November 2011, and was part of the Great Britain crews that finished fifth in the four man event at the FIBT World Championships in February 2013, and second at the Bobsleigh European Championship in January 2014. Bruce Tasker
Bruce Tasker (born 2 September 1987) is a British former bobsledder and track athlete. He qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the 4-man discipline. Life and career Tasker was born in 1987 in Lawrenny, Wales. When young, Tasker was a talented athlete, which led to his joining the Carmarthen Harriers athletics club at the age of 11. Specialising in the 100m, 200m and 400m disciplines, he broke club records as a youth and won at both distances at several meets, including the Welsh Championship, where he won the 200m at Swansea in 2008, and the BUSA Championships, the 400m in Bedford in 2007. In 2006 he was ranked as the United Kingdom's top under-20s athlete in the indoor 400m. Despite this he failed to reach the top level of the sport and turned his back on sprinting in 2009.
