IBM Leapfrog
The IBM Leapfrog is a tablet computer prototype by IBM. It was designed by Sam Lucente and Richard Sapper. It is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art. It won the Compasso d'Oro in 1994. When the tablet computer was announced, it was mistakenly described by design magazines as a product that could be bought. Sam Lucente
Samuel "Sam" Lucente (born 1958) is an industrial designer. Education Lucente studied at the University of Cincinnati. Career He worked for IBM between 1981 and 1996. He was responsible for the design of computers, including the Leapfrog computer and the IBM ThinkPad 701, along with Richard Sapper. This work is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. From 1996 until 1998 he worked at Netscape. From 2003 until 2010 he was the VP of design at Hewlett Packard. At HP, he proposed using a single logo on their products to save costs. He has been a witness in the ''Apple Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Richard Sapper
Richard Sapper (30 May 1932 – 31 December 2015) was a German industrial designer who was based in Milan for much of his career. He is considered to be one of the most influential figures of post-war design. Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum is a design museum at the Andrew Carnegie Mansion in Manhattan, New York City, along the Upper East Side's Museum Mile. The Compasso d'Oro (; ) is an industrial design award originated in Italy in 1954. Initially sponsored by the La Rinascente, a Milanese department store, the award has been organised and managed by the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale (ADI) since 1964. The Compasso d'Oro is the first, and among the most recognized and respected design awards.
