Hüseyin Cemal Akın (born 1949, Malatya) is a Turkish people, Turkish lawyer, politician, former mayor of Malatya and former Member of Parliament for the AK Party. His mayoral term was from 2004 to 2009. Early life and career Hüseyin Cemal Akın was born in Malatya in 1949. He was the son of his father Osman Avni, and mother Çerkez Meliha. He graduated from the Ankara University, Law School and worked for some time as an independent lawyer. He served to terms in the Malatya Baro Presidency. Political career He was the deputy to the party leader of the Demokrat Parti (1992), Demokrat Parti and in the 1999 Turkish general election became a candidate for the Demokrat Partis' Malatya MP seat but was not chosen. He joined the Justice and Development Party (Turkey), AK Parti and worked in the creation of the Malatya II Organisation and in the 2002 Turkish general election became an AK Parti, Member of Parliament candidate. Ahmet Çakır (born 1964) is a Turkish people, Turkish politician who served as mayor of Malatya from March 2009 to April 2018. Early life and career Ahmet Çakır was born in 1964 in Darende district in Malatya, Turkey. Çakır completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Darende. He graduated from faculty of economics at Anadolu University. He was a member of Malatya Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD). Çakır is married and has two children. Political career Çakır, along with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, co-founded the Justice and Development Party (Turkey), Justice and Development Party (AK Party) on August 14, 2001. In the 2009 regional elections, Çakır ran and won for the post of mayor of Malatya from the AK Party. References
