Hyder, Alaska
Hyder is a census-designated place in Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska, United States. The population was 87 at the 2010 census, down from 97 in 2000. Hyder is accessible by road only from Stewart, British Columbia, is popular with motorists wishing to visit Alaska without driving the length of the Alaska Highway, and is otherwise landlocked. It is the southernmost community in the state that can be reached via car (others can be reached only by boat or plane). Hyder is Alaska's easternmost town. Geography Hyder is located at (55.941442, -130.054504), at the end of the land border between Alaska and British Columbia and at the head of the Portland Canal, a long fjord which forms a portion of the border at the southeastern edge of the Alaska Panhandle. Hyder Seaplane Base is a state owned, public use seaplane base located one nautical mile (2 km) southeast of the central business district of Hyder, a community in the Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area of the U.S. state of Alaska. It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a ''general aviation'' facility. It shares its airspace with the nearby Stewart Aerodrome and Stewart Water Aerodrome and its water runway in the Portland Canal exists on the Canada–United States border. Facilities and aircraft Hyder Seaplane Base has one seaplane landing area designated N/S with a water surface measuring 10,000 by 1,000 feet (3,048 x 305 m). Hyder, Arizona
The Camp Hyder was a sub camp of the US Army, Desert Training Center in Riverside County, California. The main headquarters for the Desert Training Center was Camp Young, this is where General Patton's 3rd Armored Division was stationed. Camp Hyder is miles south of Hyder, Arizona. The camp was just north of the Gila River. Camp Hyder is miles east of Yuma, Arizona, near Camp Horn. Camp Hyder was built at the site of an old 1890s military base. Trained at Camp Hyder, in 1943, for six months was the 77th Infantry Division from April 1943 to September 1943. Then the 104th Infantry Division moved in for training. Unlike the other camps, no large tank activity was done. The camp was built by The 369th Engineer Regiment. Camp Hyder had its own rail station at which most troops arrived. The Hyder Valley is a 20-mile (32 km) long valley section of the Gila River Valley west of Hyder on the Gila River. The valley is located north of Gila River in southwest Arizona in the northwestern Sonoran Desert. The Park Valley, which crosses the Gila borders to the southwest; the Hyder Valley is the access route to the Dendora Valley northeast which is on the western border of the Painted Rock Dam and Reservoir. The Hyder Valley lies on the northwest side of the Gila River, and both trend southwest–northeast. Hyder was a Welsh water, gas and electricity multi-utility and infrastructure company created in 1996. It broke up in 2001 following a financial crisis. History Hyder PLC was created in 1996 following the takeover by Welsh Water of the electricity company SWALEC for £872m.
