Hwangnam-ppang
Hwangnam bread (), named for Hwangnam-dong and also commonly called Gyeongju bread (), is a local specialty of Gyeongju, South Korea. It is a small pastry with a filling of red bean paste. Gyeongju bread was first baked in 1939 at Choi Yeonghwa Bakery. The dish has its origins in ''wagashi'', Japanese confectionaries, from the 1910–1945 Japanese colonial period. It has since become popular across the country and is produced by several different companies, all based in Gyeongju. Red bean paste () or red bean jam, also called adzuki bean paste or ''anko'' (a Japanese word), is a paste made of red beans (also called "adzuki beans"), used in East Asian cuisine. The paste is prepared by boiling the beans, then mashing or grinding them. At this stage, the paste can be sweetened or left as it is. The color of the paste is usually dark red, which comes from the husk of the beans. In Korean cuisine, the adzuki beans (often the black variety) can also be husked prior to cooking, resulting in a white paste. Hodu-gwaja
''Hodu-gwaja'' (; "walnut cookie"), commonly translated as walnut cookies, walnut cakes, and walnut pastries, is a type of cookie originated from Cheonan, South Korea. It is also known by the name ''hodo-gwaja'' (; which is not the Standard Korean spelling but the name used by Hakhwa walnut cookies, the company that first produced the confection) in and outside Korea.
