''Hvite gutter'' (English: White Boys) is a Norwegian sitcom series that premiered in 2018 on TVNorge and Dplay. It was created and written by Jørgen Evensen, Johannes Roaldsen Fürst, Eirik Hvattum Bjørnstad and Torjus Tveiten, who also play the four main characters. Approaching the end of their 20s, they still live a carefree life in Frogner, Oslo. TVNorge (literally "TVNorway"; originally abbreviated TVN, now just abbreviated N in the logos) is a Norwegian television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. History TVNorge went on the air on 5 December 1988 and was the first advertising-supported Norwegian channel. The channel was started with 50 000 NOK. The first broadcast was a live variety show from Oslo Cabaret with Swedish singer Lill-Babs and Norwegian pop group Tomboy as musical guests. Originally TVNorge broadcast via satellite and cable, later they have affiliated several local television broadcasters. A sitcom, a Portmanteau, portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Dplay (stylized as dplay) was one of the brand names of online video on demand services operated by Discovery, Inc. Frogner is a residential and retail borough in the West End of Oslo, Norway, with a population of 59,269 as of 2020. The "die throw" ( no, terningkast) is a method of review which is often used in Norway. It is characterized by the use of a white-on-red die graphic to represent the movie's rating in the review, and is similar to stars or letters used in other countries. The format was introduced by film director and then-film critic Arne Skouen, who, writing for ''Verdens Gang'' on 31 March 1952, stated the need of "having a film première characterized in a short, concise form". To do this, he used a standard die with six pips, where one marked the lowest possible rating of a film, and six marked the highest. In some cases, a die with zero pips has been used, meaning awful. Similarly, people sometimes allude to "seven pips", meaning extraordinarily good. Usage In time, the die throw spread to other parts of the media.
