Huw Ceredig
Huw Ceredig Jones (22 June 1942 – 16 August 2011) was a Welsh actor, best known for portraying Reg Harries in the Welsh-language soap opera ''Pobol y Cwm'' for 29 years, from 1974 to 2003. Early life Huw Ceredig was born in Brynamman, Carmarthenshire, in 1942, the son of Reverend Gerallt Jones, and Elizabeth J. Griffiths, a Welsh teacher. Ceredig was educated at Llandovery College, where one of his teachers was the Welsh rugby player and coach Carwyn James, before going on to train as a teacher at Trinity College in Carmarthen. He was a member of the renowned Cilie family of poets, and was raised in Llanuwchllyn. Ceredig was the brother of Welsh politician Alun Ffred Jones, folk singer/politician Dafydd Iwan, and Arthur Morus. Brynamman
Brynamman () is a village on the south side of the Black Mountain (range), Black Mountain (''Y Mynydd Du''), part of the Brecon Beacons National Park (''Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog''). The village is split into Upper Brynamman and Lower Brynamman by the River Amman, which is also the boundary between the counties of Carmarthenshire and Neath Port Talbot (in the old county of Glamorganshire). Ruins of stone dwellings (possibly prehistoric), an early type of lime kiln and rectangular medieval buildings found on the mountain show that people have lived in this area for a long time. The population of Brynamman was 2,608 as of 2011; the urban area including Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen was 5,692. Brynamman was previously known as Y Gwter Fawr (); The name was changed when the railway from Ammanford reached the village. Norah Isaac
Norah Isaac (1914 – 3 August 2003) was a Welsh author, drama producer and campaigner for Welsh-language education. She became head of the country's first Welsh-medium school, Ysgol Gymraeg yr Urdd, in 1939. Background Norah Isaac was born in 1914 in the village of Caerau near Maesteg in the old county of Glamorgan, Wales. She was educated at Glamorgan Training College in Barry. Welsh-language advocate Isaac was an advocate of the Welsh language. In 1935 she became head of the Glamorgan division of Urdd Gobaith Cymru, a Welsh-medium youth movement, remaining there until her appointment as founding head of Ysgol Gymraeg yr Urdd in 1939, the country's first school to teach in Welsh. When Ysgol Gymraeg yr Urdd opened as a private school, Isaac was the sole teacher and there were only seven pupils. Morriston Hospital () is a 750-bed hospital located in Cwmrhydyceirw near Morriston in Swansea, Wales. It is managed by Swansea Bay University Health Board. Alongside its role as a district general hospital, Morriston is a teaching hospital for medical students of Swansea University Medical School. History The site was originally occupied by Maes-y-Gwernen Hall, a 19th-century farmhouse which was acquired by William Williams MP in 1885. ''Meees'' ( Welsh for ''Baaas'', as in the sound of bleating sheep) is a Welsh-language children's television show from Wales. It is about a family of multicultural opera-singing sheep, played by performers in sheep costumes. It is shown on S4C, the Welsh equivalent of Channel 4. 52 episodes over two series of the 15-minute show have been made. Characters The family run their own recycling plant from their home at Acropolis Cottage, and are headed by Costaaas, a male sheep from Greece, who is married to Baaalwen, a black Welsh ewe, (played by Tamsin Heatley) whom he supposedly met in a Milanese choir. Llŷr Evans (, born 1968), also known as Llŷr Ifans, is a Welsh actor. Career Llyr Ifans is best known for appearing opposite his brother Rhys Ifans in the cult film, '' Twin Town'', in 1997. A sequel with the suggested title ''Swansea Al Akbar'' was mooted but the plans were abandoned in 2011.
