Hutsul Secession
Hutsul Secession (also called Carpathian style or East Galician style) is an architectural style which developed in Eastern Galicia, particularly in Lviv. The style embodies the first attempt to create a national Ukrainian style in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The style is based on local folk architecture, but incorporates elements of other regional Secession (art), Secession styles. Specifically, the Vienna Secession coupled with the folk architecture of the Hutsuls, Hutsul highlanders formed the basis of the Hutsul Secession. The most prominent Hustul Secessioinist was Ivan Levynskyi, who headed a firm of several other architects, including Tadeusz Obmiński, Oleksandr Lushpynskyi, and Lev Levynskyi. Its incorporation of folk designs makes it similar to Ukrainian Art Nouveau. Description The Hutsul Secession style includes large, sloping roofs with elaborate contours. Eastern Galicia
Eastern Galicia (; ; ) is a geographical region in Western Ukraine (present day oblasts of Lviv Oblast, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil Oblast, Ternopil), having also essential historic importance in Poland. Galicia (Eastern Europe), Galicia was formed within the Austrian Empire during the years 1772–1918. Eastern Galicia now includes all of the Lviv Oblast, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk Oblasts (regions) of Ukraine as well as Ternopil Oblast, with its northern strip bordering the former Kremenets Raion, Kremenets, Shumsk Raion, Shumsk and Lanivtsi Raions and the northern part of Zbarazh Raion.
