Hussain Abdul Rahman
Hussain Abdul Rahman (28 September 2015) was a Maldivian lawyer who served as the deputy attorney general of the Maldives from August 1981 to February 1990, and as the acting attorney general from August 1981 to November 1983. He was also the father of Mohamed Muizzu, the incumbent president of the Maldives. Born in Vashafaru, Rahman graduated from Al-Azhar University with a degree in Sharia and Law in 1975. He later returned to the university in 1986 to complete a master's degree in Sharia policy. After graduating in 1975, he initially served as a special judge in the Ministry of Justice, overseeing various courts in Malé at different times. He also worked as an Arabic teacher. Television Maldives
Television Maldives (TVM) is the public service broadcasting TV channel of the Maldives. It was formed on 29 March 1978. History The station started broadcasting on 29 March 1978 to a very limited audience, 90 television sets around the capital Male. The station broadcast on VHF channel 7 with an ERP of 1KW. In 1994, a second channel, TVM Plus, started broadcasting, which relied upon subscriptions. By the 2000s, the Maldives had more than 60,000 television sets and TVM Plus was available in close to 2,000 households. Until the launch of DhiTV in 2008, TVM held a virtual monopoly on local television. Muizzu Family
Mohamed Muizzu (born 15 June 1978) is a Maldivian politician and engineer who has been serving as the 8th president of the Maldives and leader of the People's National Congress since 2023. He previously served as housing minister from 2012 to 2018, making him the longest-serving housing minister in Maldivian history. Muizzu was the mayor of Malé from 2021 until his resignation in 2023. Born in Malé, Muizzu studied civil engineering in the United Kingdom and completed his PhD in 2009 at University of Leeds. He was appointed Minister of Housing in 2012 and served until 2018. He then became the Mayor of Malé. As a member of the People's National Congress, Muizzu was nominated as the presidential candidate following the imprisonment of former president Abdulla Yameen on corruption charges. The Supreme Court of the Maldives () is the Supreme court, highest court of the Maldives. History The Supreme Court was established on 18 September 2008 under Article 282 of the Constitution of the Maldives. The first amendment to the Judicature Act 2010, Judicature Act made the Supreme Court bench down to 5 judges, while the third amendment reversed the first amendment and made it back to 7 judges. In 2025, the government submitted a bill in parliament to alter the bench back to 5 judges, which was met with condemnation from opposition parties. Cardiac arrest (also known as sudden cardiac arrest [SCA]) is when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating. Aminiya School
Aminiya School is a primary and secondary school in Malé, the capital of the Maldives. It was the first girls' secondary school in the country and remained the only all-girls school until 14 June 2011. History It was founded in 1944 by Mohamed Amin Didi to accommodate female students from Majeediyya School (then known as "Madhrasathul Saniyya") which became an all-boy institution. The school is divided into four houses, namely ''Aminarani'', ''Dhainkanba'', ''Raadhafathi'' and ''Rehendhi.'' Till 2011, the school remained as a secondary school for only girls. In 2011 the school established Primary, Grade 1 making it both a primary and secondary school. Now there are grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 for primary, and grades 8, 9 and 10 for secondary. Majeediyya School
Majeediyya School () is the first Maldivian government school, located in Malé, Maldives. It only accepted boys until the introduction of Primary Education in 2010, which allowed girls to attend the school as well. The English medium is followed throughout all subjects, with the exception of Dhivehi and Islam. History Majeediyya School was founded in April 19, 1927, under the name Madhrasathul Salaahiyyaa. The school name was changed to Madhrasathul Saniyyathul Hukoomathul Mahaldheebiyya in 1928. The first principal of the school was Husain Salahuddin. Mohamed Amin Didi was Principal from 1946 to 1953 and it was during this time that the school was renamed Madhrasathul Majeediyya. The first GCE O Level started in 1962.
