Hunsur is a city in Mysore district in the States and territories of India, Indian state of Karnataka. It is the headquarters of the Hunsur Taluk administrative division. Geography Hunsur is located at . It is located at an elevation of above mean sea level. The river Lakshmana Tirtha flows through the town and two bridges are built across the river. The town is the administrative center of Hunsur taluk, which is part of the Mysore District. Hunsur is situated on National Highway 275 (India), NH-275, connecting it to metropolitan cities of Mysuru, Bengaluru and Mangaluru. It is 45 km from Mysuru, and 175 km from Bengaluru. Hunsur Krishnamurthy
Hunsur Krishnamurthy (9 February 1914 – 13 February 1989) was an Indian playwright, film director, producer, actor, screenwriter and lyricist in Kannada cinema. He worked with noted theatre personalities early in his career; Gubbi Veeranna, Mohammed Peer and B. R. Panthulu before entering films. As a film director, he made films mostly in the mythological genre such as '' Satya Harishchandra'' (1965), '' Bhakta Kumbara'' (1974) and '' Babruvahana'' (1977), all of which star Rajkumar. The films were major critical and commercial successes and are seen as milestones in Kannada cinema and in the career of Rajkumar. Lakshmana Tirtha
The Lakshmana Tirtha (Lakshmantīrtha River) is a river of Karnataka, India. It rises in Kodagu district and flows eastward. It joins the Kaveri in the Krishna Raja Sagara lake. The river originates at the height of 1450 meters in the Brahmagiri range of Kodagu district. Unlike Kaveri, Lakshmana Tirtha flows in a relatively flat-terrain region of South Kodagu. An increase in the water level during monsoon, results in flooding of adjacent paddy fields. The river meanders throughout its course and enters Mysore district through Nagarahole National Park. Hunsur is located on the banks of this river and is the source of drinking water for the people of Hunsur. National Highway 275 (NH-275), also commonly referred to as Bengaluru–Mysuru access-controlled Expressway, part of the Bengaluru–Mangaluru Economic Corridor (EC-34), is a national highway that starts from Bengaluru and goes through Mysuru as a 6-lane expressway of , and again as 4-lane till Bilikere (towards Madikeri), and ends at Bantwal. This highway connects the coastal city of Mangaluru to Bengaluru. It is also a bypass route for the National Highway 75 (NH-75). D. Kemaparaj Urs (5 February 1917 – 18 May 1982) was an Indian freedom fighter, actor, director and producer who worked mainly in the Kannada film industry.
