Humphreys Boat Shed
Humphreys Boat Shed was a heritage-listed workshop and slipway at Seaworld Drive, Main Beach, Queensland, Australia. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 31 August 2001, but was removed in June 2015 having been destroyed. However the remnants of the boat shed and slipway are listed on the Gold Coast Local Heritage Register. History Humphreys Boat Shed was constructed in 1955 by John Llewellyn Humphreys. It was from this building that Humphreys established his marine workshop and slipway servicing the boating and prawn trawling industries. The area that was later to be called the Gold Coast area known to the Indigenous population as ''Kurrungul'', referring to the large supply of hardwood) was first surveyed in 1840 by Robert Dixon. South Stradbroke Island
South Stradbroke Island ( Indigenous: ''Minjerribah''), colloquially ''South Straddie'', is an island that lies within Moreton Bay in the Australian state of Queensland, south of Brisbane and forms the northern end of Gold Coast. The island is a locality within the City of Gold Coast. In , South Stradbroke Island had a population of 142 people. The by sized island is the smaller one of the two Stradbroke Islands and lies very close to the mainland. The island has hundreds of wild wallabies that are usually human orientated. ''Pandanus'' is a genus of monocots with about 578 accepted species. They are palm-like, dioecious trees and shrubs native to the Old World tropics and subtropics. ''Araucaria heterophylla'' (synonym ''A. excelsa'') is a species of conifer. As its vernacular name Norfolk Island pine (or Norfolk pine) implies, the tree is endemic to Norfolk Island, an external territory of Australia located in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia. Gable
A gable is the generally triangular portion of a wall between the edges of intersecting roof pitches. The Town of Southport was a local government area in South East Queensland, Australia. History On 11 November 1879, the Nerang and Coomera Divisions was created as two of 74 divisions within Queensland under the ''Divisional Boards Act 1879''.
