Humongous (1982 Film)
''Humongous'' is a 1982 Canadian slasher film directed by Paul Lynch, and starring Janet Julian, John Wildman, and David Wallace. The story centers on a group of young adults who become stranded on a deserted island, where they are stalked and murdered by a monstrous assailant. Plot During Labor Day weekend in 1946, young Ida Parsons is chased into the woods and raped by a houseguest. Her dogs break out of their pen and attack and kill Ida's rapist. In 1982, brothers Eric and Nick borrow their father's yacht to take their girlfriends, Sandy and Donna, and their sister, Carla, on a weekend outing to St. Martin Island. That night, Eric and Nick discover and rescue a shipwrecked fisherman named Bert. Humongous, Inc. (formerly Humongous Entertainment, Inc.) was an American video game developer based in Bothell, Washington. Founded in 1992, the company developed multiple edutainment franchises, most prominently ''Putt-Putt (series), Putt-Putt'', ''Freddi Fish'', ''Pajama Sam'', ''Spy Fox'', and ''Backyard Sports'', which, combined, sold over 15 million copies and earned more than 400 awards of excellence. Humongous Entertainment was acquired by GT Interactive (later renamed Infogrames, Inc., then Atari, Inc.) in July 1996. By October 2000, sales of Humongous games had surpassed 16 million copies. GT, which had by that point became Atari, Inc. sold the Humongous business to its parent company, Infogrames (later renamed Atari SA), in August 2005 and reduced the company solely as a management firm for their assets until its bankruptcy in 2013, in which the assets were sold to Tommo, who re-released some of its games on digital distribution channels using the Humongous name. Lord Humongous
Lord Humongous is a professional wrestling character also known as a "gimmick" that was originally introduced in Memphis' Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) in 1984. The character was based on a gang leader called "the Humungus" or at times "Lord Humungus" from the 1981 movie '' Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior''. The original Lord Humongous was portrayed by Mike Stark, who was tall and physically impressive like the character in the movie. Since Lord Humongous always wears a Hockey mask it allowed promoters to replace the man under the mask without having to publicly acknowledge that it was someone else playing the part. The character became a recurring gimmick in the CWA but was also used in other promotions after the CWA closed. The character has been played by a number of wrestlers including Jeff Van Camp Sr., Sid Vicious, Barry Buchanan and Sid's son Gunnar Eudy.
