Humane World for Animals, formerly called Humane Society International (HSI) was founded in 1991 as the international division of The Humane Society of the United States. HSI expanded the HSUS's activities into Central and South America, Africa, and Asia. Humane World for Animals' Asian, Latin American, Australian, Canadian, African and European offices carry out field activities and programs. In February 2025, HSI and the HSUS renamed to Humane World for Animals. National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA), also known as the National Council of SPCAs, is the largest and oldest animal welfare organisation in South Africa.
