Race is a categorization of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into groups generally viewed as distinct within a given society. The term came into common usage during the 16th century, when it was used to refer to groups of various kinds, including those characterized by close kinship relations. By the 17th century, the term began to refer to physical ( phenotypical) traits, and then later to national affiliations. Modern science regards race as a social construct, an identity which is assigned based on rules made by society. ''The Human Race'' is an American science fiction action thriller film directed and written by Paul Hough. It stars Paul McCarthy-Boyington, Eddie McGee and Trista Robinson as a group of people who find themselves forced to race or die. A work-in-progress copy was screened at the 2012 Fantasia Film Festival and the finished copy had its world premiere on April 11, 2013 at the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival. Synopsis Eighty people are horrified to wake in a strange institutional setting, with the only common factors between them the knowledge that prior to their abductions they witnessed a sudden flash of white light, and that they were all on a certain block in Los Angeles. Robert Antelme
Robert Antelme (5 January 1917 – 26 October 1990) was a French writer and editor. During the Second World War, he was involved in the French Resistance and deported. Biography Antelme was born in Sartène, Corse-du-Sud. He studied law in Paris in 1936, then served in the military in 1937–1939, followed by active duty. He married Marguerite Duras in 1939. Their child died at birth in 1942. In the same year, Duras met Dionys Mascolo, who became her lover, leading to a ''ménage à trois'' between the three. Under the Vichy France, Vichy government, Antelme worked as an editor in the Ministry of the Interior. He joined a resistance group headed by François Mitterrand in 1943. Antelme was arrested and deported on 1 July 1944. He was imprisoned at Buchenwald, then Bad Gandersheim, Gandersheim, before surviving a death march towards Dachau concentration camp, Dachau at the end of the war. Human Race (Three Days Grace Song)
"Human Race" is a song by Canadian rock band Three Days Grace. The song was released on March 23, 2015, as the third single from the band's fifth studio album ''Human''. Background In an interview with ''Loudwire'', guitarist Barry Stock mentioned that "Human Race" was written while the band was on tour. Stock believed the song's inspiration was from the noise and traffic he saw during a drive through Salt Lake City. Drummer Neil Sanderson stated, "I remember somebody said, 'Where the hell is everybody going and why are they such in a rush? Don't you just get sick of running this race? The human race?' The song was born in that moment. We started writing it right away." A lyric video for the song was released on their YouTube channel on March 23, 2015.
