Hugo Rodrigues (badminton)
Hugo Rodrigues (born 22 November 1979) is a Portuguese former footballer who played as a centre-back. Noted as one of the tallest footballers to play in the Football League, Rodrigues started his career with local club C.D. Feirense before playing in the Portuguese lower division sides Paços de Brandão and Perosinho and then Portuguese Second Division side Pedras Rubras. After a local agent suggested he should try English football he signed for Third Division side Yeovil Town in 2003. Despite being offered a new contract he retired from professional football at the age of 24 and returned to Portugal to complete his university studies. Career Rodrigues started his career as a youth player at Feirense, and as a 15-year-old he attracted interest from FC Porto but was denied the move after Feirense demanded £30,000 for his services, something unheard of in Portuguese football at the time. Daniel 'Dani' Ferreira Rodrigues (born 3 March 1980) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a winger. Club career Portugal Born in São João da Madeira, Rodrigues started his career for Feirense, playing one full season in the Segunda Liga. In November 1998, he went on loan to AFC Bournemouth in England, being spotted by scouts from nearby Premier League club Southampton, who recommended him to manager Glenn Hoddle. Paços de Brandão () is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Santa Maria da Feira, and Aveiro District. The population in 2011 was 4,867, in an area of 3.56 km2. The 2003–04 Football League Trophy, known as the LDV Vans Trophy for sponsorship reasons, was the 23rd season in the history of the competition. A straight knockout competition for English football clubs in the third and fourth tiers of the English football league system. In all, 60 clubs entered the competition, including twelve from the Conference National.
