Hugo Casey
Hugo Casey (1940 – 17 June 2017) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for the Cork Championship club Macroom and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. He usually lined out at corner-forward Career Casey joined the Macroom senior team in 1958 and ended the season with a Cork SFC title after a defeat of Avondhu in the final. Macroom was beaten by St. Finbarr's in the 1959 final, with Casey later suffering injury and dropping down to the Macroom junior team the following year. In 1962, with Casey as captain, Macroom won a second Cork SFC title in four seasons after a defeat Muskerry. He first appeared on the inter-county scene during an unsuccessful two-year tenure with the Cork GAA minor football team. After an impressive performance for the Cork junior football team in 1959, Casey was immediately drafted onto the senior team that was beaten by Kerry in the Munster final. Macroom GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in the town and surrounding parish of Macroom in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated with Cork GAA county board and the Muskerry GAA divisional board. Muskerry GAA
Muskerry GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division located in the middle region of County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork GAA County Board. The division includes clubs from areas to the west of Cork city stretching to the county bounds with Kerry. Its name is derived from the ancient Gaelic kingdom of Múscraige which, following the Norman conquest, now encompasses the baronies of Muskerry West and Muskerry East. These baronies, or half-baronies, include towns such as Macroom, Ballincollig, and Ballingeary. Muskerry GAA is bordered by Carrigdhoun GAA and Carbery GAA divisions to the south and by Duhallow GAA to the north. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from "Under 12" up to the adult level. Munster Junior Football Championship
The Munster Junior Football Championship is a gaelic football tournament between the six counties of Munster: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford. It is the third-tier county teams playing off in a single-elimination tournament with 2 quarter finals instead of 4 (as of 2014). The cup was first given to the winners in 1957. Kerry have won the most titles, 42 in all. The winner will play against the champions of the other provinces in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship. All-Ireland Junior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Junior Football Championship is a GAA competition involving four Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams. Prior to a change in competition structure in 2021, the competition was previously for all Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams in Ireland. In this previous format, the definition of what constituted a Junior player differed from county to county. In some, the junior team was the second team after the senior team. This meant that any players who had not played with the senior team could play with the junior team. In others, such as Cork and Kerry, players could only be chosen from clubs that played in junior or intermediate grades. These counties could not choose players from senior clubs, even if they were not on the senior county team. When a team won this championship, it had to pick a new team for the following year. 1962 Cork Senior Football Championship
The 1962 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 74th staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 28 January 1962. The championship began on 1 April and ended on 21 October 1962. Avondhu entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Urhan in the first round. On 21 October 1962, Macroom won the championship following a 3–04 to 1–04 defeat of Muskerry in the final. This was their 10th championship title overall and their first title since 1958.
