Alerce Costero National Park
Alerce Costero National Park (, ) is a protected wild area in the Cordillera Pelada about from Valdivia and from La Unión. Colún Beach
Colún is a beach in southern Chile located south of Corral, Chile, Corral and west of La Unión, Chile, La Unión. The beach is about 9 km long and runs like many other Chilean beaches from north to south along the Pacific Oceans shores. In a ranking made the newspaper El Mercurio in 2006 Colún was considered the most hidden beach in Chile. The beach has large sand dunes in its southern part and lies west of two freshwater lagoons. The Los Ríos Region (Spanish: ''Región de Los Ríos'', , ''Region of the Rivers'') is one of Chile's 16 regions, the country's first-order administrative divisions. Its capital is Valdivia. La Unión, Chile
La Unión is a city and commune of the Ranco Province in the Los Ríos Region in Chile. It is situated approximately 40 km north of Osorno and 80 km southeast of Valdivia. Covering an area of 2,136.7 km2, it has a population of 36,447, of which 25,615 are considered part of the urban population, according to the 2012 census. The commune derived its name from the confluence of the Llollelhue and Radimadi rivers. La Unión was founded in 1821 during the government of Bernardo O'Higgins, to secure sovereignty over the Central Valley south of Valdivia. It is a major centre for milk production; COLUN is the main milk and dairy product producer in the zone. Cordillera Pelada
Cordillera Pelada (Spanish for Bald Range or Barren Range) is a mountain range in southern Los Ríos Region, southern Chile. It is located along the Pacific coast and forms part of the larger Chilean Coast Range. It got its name ''pelada'' from the Spanish word for bare or bald in reference to large fires that once burned the forests on the cordillera. From about 1750 to 1943, when the land between Maullín River and Valdivia was colonized by Spain and Chile, numerous fires of ''Fitzroya'' woods occurred in Cordillera Pelada. These fires were initiated by Spaniards, Chileans, and Europeans.
