''Huasita Regalona'' is a song written by Chilean songwriter Donato Román. It was first recorded by Chilean singer Ester Soré who also issued an album in 1959 under the same name. Another popular version of the song was recorded by Silvia Infantas. Composition Román. was honored with an award for the composition at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival. Recordings The song was recorded in the 1950s by Ester Soré. The song was the title track of Soré's 1959 album released by RCA Victor. On the version of the song included on the album, Soré was accompanied by Los Sembradores. Donato Román
Donato Román Heitman (December 4, 1915 - November 23, 2004) was a Chilean songwriter. Career He was raised in a musical family in Santiago and entered the conservatory at age 12. At age 16, he composed, a welcome march for Edward VII, Prince of Wales, who was visiting Chile. In 1934, at the age 19, he conducted the Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile in his work, "Ballet del oro". In 1935, at age 20, he wrote his most famous song "Mi banderita chilena", which was recorded by many of Chile's important musicians and taught to generations of Chilean schoolchildren. In addition to popular song, he also composed symphonic works, chamber music, and music to accompany Chile's noted poets and for 16 Chilean films. Sylvia Elvira Infantas Soto (14 June 1923 – 19 June 2024) was a Chilean singer, actress, and folklorist. Early years Infantas was born in Santiago in 1923. She was the daughter of Tenor and Jorge Infantas, and grew up in the El Almendral neighborhood of Valparaíso. Singing career She began her singing career in 1942, performing on various radio stations. She was chosen as the best "melodic singer" of 1943 by Radiomanía magazine and eventually became recognised for her performances of Chilean folk music leading the groups "Silvia Infantas y los Baqueanos" (1953–1959) and "Silvia Infantas y los Cóndores" (1960–1969). In 1962, she participated in the third annual Viña del Mar International Song Festival; her performance of "El loro aguafiestas" (with backing from Los Cóndores) won the first place in the competition.
