Huachipato
Huachipato FC is a Chilean football club based in Talcahuano that currently plays in the Chilean Primera División. Huachipato was founded on 7 June 1947 by workers of the homonymous steel mill in Talcahuano, and it currently plays its home games at the Estadio Huachipato-CAP Acero, which it owns, making it one of the five Chilean professional football clubs to own their own ground. Originally a multisports club, Huachipato became a football club in 2015. Huachipato has thrice become Chilean champions, and it is the first and to date, only team from Southern Chile to win the Chilean top flight title. Huachipato is known in Chile from its academy and youth talent production that makes up the bulk of their squad, qualifying for the U-20 Copa Libertadores twice, both times as reigning youth Chilean champions. Héctor Mancilla
Héctor Raúl Mancilla Garcés (12 November 1980) is a Chilean former professional footballer and current manager. He also holds Mexican citizenship. During his playing career, Mancilla played as a striker, spending the bulk of his career in Mexico, and is a former Chilean international, playing 10 matches for the national side. Mancilla is Huachipato's all-time record goal scorer, with 72 goals. Club career Born in Purranque, Mancilla played amateur football for Club Deportivo Santiago Morning de Purranque in his birthtown, and in 1999, aged 18, he left his home city, moving to Malleco, joining Malleco Unido in the Chilean Tercera División. The 2024 Chilean Primera División, known as Campeonato Itaú 2024 for sponsorship purposes, is the 94th season of the Chilean Primera División, Chile's top-flight football league. The season began on 16 February and ended on 10 November 2024. Colo-Colo won their thirty-fourth league title in this tournament, clinching the championship with a 1–1 draw with Deportes Copiapó and another 1–1 draw for Club Universidad de Chile, Universidad de Chile against Everton de Viña del Mar, Everton on the final day of the season. The 2023 Chilean Primera División, known as Campeonato Betsson 2023 for sponsorship purposes until 15 October 2023, was the 93rd season of the Chilean Primera División, Chile's top-flight football league. The season began on 20 January and ended on 9 December 2023. Huachipato were the champions, clinching their third league title on the final round of the season with a 2–0 win over Audax Italiano and a 1–0 defeat for Cobresal at the hands of Unión Española on 8 December 2023, regaining the title after 11 years and being the first team from outside Santiago to win the title since 2015. Chilean Primera División
The Chilean Primera División () is a professional association football league in Chile and the highest level of the Chilean football league system. Founded in 1933, it is organized by the Asociación Nacional de Fútbol Profesional (ANFP). The league is officially known as the Liga de Primera Itaú due to sponsorship by Brazilian bank Itaú Unibanco, Itaú. Throughout its history, the Chilean Primera División has had different formats, structures and number of participants. Estadio Huachipato-CAP Acero
Estadio Huachipato-CAP Acero (''Compañía de Acero del Pacífico''), known until 2015 as Estadio CAP, is a football stadium located in Talcahuano, Chile. Inaugurated in 2009, it is the home field of Huachipato, replacing Estadio Las Higueras, which was demolished in 2008. The stadium capacity is 10,500 people (all-seated). Due to the effects of the 2010 Chile earthquake that severely damaged Estadio El Morro, Naval played their home matches in Huachipato-CAP Acero until 2012. The stadium is also rented by other teams as a neutral ground for football matches when their own grounds are unavailable. Rodrigo Millar
Rodrigo Javier Millar Carvajal (born 3 November 1981) is a Chilean former footballer who played as a midfielder. He played for Chile in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He also holds Mexican citizenship. Club career Huachipato Millar started his career at Huachipato in 1999. He made his Chilean Primera División debut, aged 20, against Santiago Wanderers on 30 April 2000. Millar scored his first goal for Huachipato against Rangers de Talca in a 1–1 draw. In the 2003 season, Millar scored 12 goals in 32 games and caught the eye of several European teams. On 6 March 2004, it was reported that Millar was invited to train with the German side Hertha BSC. After training with the club, it was revealed that they wanted to sign him due to his good performances for Huachipato and his nomination for the 2004 Copa América in Peru. Huachipato is census district and neighbourhood in Talcahuano Commune, part of the conurbation of Greater Concepción in the Biobío Region of southern Chile., United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency It is the industrialized part of the commune supporting a steel mill and oil refinery. Etymology The word ''huachipato'' is a Mapuche word meaning "a trap to catch birds". It may be the result of a mixture of Spanish and Mapuche, where the local name for a snare is ''huache'' or ''huachi''. Jaime García (footballer)
Jaime García Arévalo (born 30 August 1977) is a Chilean football manager and former player who played as a central defender. He is the current manager of Huachipato. Career Born in Cartagena, García started his career with local side Atlético Cartagena. He subsequently played for San Antonio Unido, Deportes Melipilla and San Marcos de Arica before retiring. After retiring, García subsequently became Luis Musrri's assistant at Coquimbo Unido, San Antonio Unido and Deportes La Serena. In September 2016, after Musrri left to Universidad de Chile, García was named manager of La Serena. On 27 November 2017, García was sacked by La Serena. Cristián Eduardo Reynero Cerda (born August 25, 1979 in Chile) is a Chilean former footballer who played as a centre-back. He is the current assistant coach of Miguel Ramírez for Unión Española. Gonzalo Alejandro Jara Reyes (; born 29 August 1985) is a Chilean former professional footballer who played as a defender. He was a versatile defender and could play in either a full-back role or as a centre-back. Formed at Huachipato, he later won three league titles at Colo-Colo. In 2009, he moved to England, where he represented West Bromwich Albion, Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest, joining Mainz in 2014.
