Htin Lin Oo
Htin Lin Oo (; also spelt Htin Linn Oo; born 21 January 1967) is a Burmese writer and former political prisoner. He previously served as the information officer for the National League for Democracy. On 23 October 2014, he gave a public speech in Chaung-U Township, where he criticised nationalist Buddhist monks and hardliners of stoking inter-religious tensions in the country. The speech was denounced by Buddhist nationalists, including the Patriotic Buddhist Monks Union. In June 2015, he was sentenced to 2 years of hard labour for defaming religion and 'hurting religious feelings.' His sentencing was condemned by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. He was pardoned on 16 April 2016 by President Htin Kyaw. Burma

National League For Democracy
The National League for Democracy (, ; Abbreviation, abbr. NLD; Burmese abbr. ဒီချုပ်) is a deregistered liberal democratic political party in Myanmar (formerly Burma). It became the country's ruling party after a landslide victory in the 2015 Myanmar general election, 2015 general election but was overthrown in a 2021 Myanmar coup d'état, coup d'état in February 2021 following another landslide 2020 Myanmar general election, election victory in 2020. Burmese people or the Myanmar people () are citizens from Myanmar (Burma), irrespective of their ethnic or religious background. Myanmar is a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-lingual country. The Burmese government officially recognises 135 ethnic groups, who are grouped into eight 'national races,' namely the Bamar (Burmans), Shan, Karen, Rakhine (Arakanese), Mon, Kachin, Chin, and Kayah (Karenni). Htin Kyaw
Htin Kyaw (, or ; born 20 July 1946) is a Burmese politician, writer and scholar who served as president of Myanmar from 30 March 2016 to 21 March 2018. He was the first elected president to hold the office with no ties to the military since the 1962 coup d'état. The second son of scholar Min Thu Wun, Htin Kyaw had held various positions in the education, planning and treasury ministries in prior governments. The ethnic Mon-Bamar politician is viewed as an important ally of the National League for Democracy (NLD) leader and State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, who is constitutionally barred from the presidency.
