Hsieh Ing-dan
Hsieh Ing-dan (; born 28 September 1949) is a Taiwanese police officer. Hsieh was born on 28 September 1949, and raised in Changhua County. He began study of administrative management in 1967, at what became Central Police University. Hsieh joined the Nantou County Police Department's Criminal Investigation Corps as a junior detective after graduation. In 1981, he was assigned to the equivalent division of the Taichung City Police Department and promoted to lieutenant. The following year, Hsieh received another promotion, to captain. In 1985, Hsieh was named a precinct director within Taichung. The next year, Hsieh joined the Criminal Investigation Bureau, a division of the National Police Agency (NPA), with the rank of lieutenant. By 1987, the CIB had promoted Hsieh to captain. The People First Party (PFP, ) is a centrist or centre-right political party in the Republic of China (Taiwan). History The PFP was founded by James Soong and his supporters after his failed independent bid for the presidency in 2000. Soong himself is the chairman, and dominates much of its politics. Kuomintang
The Kuomintang (KMT), also referred to as the Guomindang (GMD), the Nationalist Party of China (NPC) or the Chinese Nationalist Party (CNP), is a major political party in the Republic of China, initially on the Chinese mainland and in Taiwan after 1949. It was the sole party in China during the Republican Era from 1928 to 1949, when most of the Chinese mainland was under its control. 2005 Pan–Blue Visits To Mainland China
The 2005 Pan–Blue visits to mainland China were a series of groundbreaking visits by delegations of the Kuomintang (KMT) and their allied Pan-Blue Coalition to mainland China. They were hailed as the highest level of exchange between the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang since Chiang Kai-shek and Mao Zedong met in Chongqing, China on August 28, 1945. On March 28, 2005, the Kuomintang's vice chairman Chiang Pin-kung led a delegation in the first official visit to mainland China by a senior leader of the Kuomintang in 60 years. Later, on April 26, 2005, a 70-member delegation led by the Kuomintang's chairman Lien Chan left Taipei for the ROC's ''de jure'' capital of Nanjing via Hong Kong, launching Lien's 8-day Taiwan Strait peace tour; also the first such visit to mainland China in 60 years. Lien Chan
Lien Chan (; born 27 August 1936) is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Chairman of the Taiwan Provincial Government from 1990 to 1993, Premier of the Republic of China from 1993 to 1997, Vice President of the Republic of China from 1996 to 2000, and was the Chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 2000 to 2005, apart from various ministerial posts he had also held. Lien ran for the President of the Republic of China on behalf of the Kuomintang twice in 2000 and 2004, but both lost to Chen Shui-bian of the Democratic Progressive Party. Upon his retirement as KMT Chairman in August 2005, he was given the title Honorary Chairman of KMT.
