Hronec
Hronec ( hu, Kisgaram, , until 1886: ) is a village and municipality in Brezno District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. History In historical records, the village was first mentioned as ''Hronecz'' in 1357, when it was the dominion of Lypche Solienses. In 1390, it was mentioned as ''Horonecz''. As Louis I of Hungary already in 1357 gave to the Royal forester's son - called Pál - the right of scultetus, in 1405 it was referred as ''Plantatio Pauli''. In 1424 ''Kysgaran'', in 1547 ''Ranitz'' and in the 19th century usually ''Rhonic'' was used. After, the official name was until 1886 ''Rónicz'', when it was changed to ''Kisgaram''. Eventually, as part of Czechoslovakia, ''Hronec'' became the official name. Alajos Szokolyi
Alajos János Szokolyi (also referred to as Alajos Szokoly, ; sk, Alojz Sokol; 19 June 1871 – 9 September 1932) was a Hungarian athlete, sports organizer, sports manager, archivist and physician. He competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics, winning the bronze medal in 100 metres dash. In the same year he also won the first ever edition of the Hungarian Athletics Championships in 100 yards dash. Early life Szokolyi was born on 9 June 1871 in Rónicz, Kingdom of Hungary (now Hronec, Slovakia) as the first child József Szokoly, an engineer and Emília Holub. At the age of 3, he was adopted by his childless godparents, Alajos Schőnn, a veteran of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848 and Amália Szokoly, sister of Alajos' father. Szokolyi went to grammar school in Ipolyság (Šahy), subsequently he absolved the high school in Selmecbánya (Banská Štiavnica) and Léva (Levice). Banská Bystrica Region
The Banská Bystrica Region ( sk, Banskobystrický kraj, ; hu, Besztercebányai kerület, ) is one of the Regions of Slovakia, eight regions of Slovakia. It is the largest region by area, and has a lower population density than any other region. The Banská Bystrica region was established in 1923; its borders were last adjusted in 1996. Banská Bystrica consists of 514 municipalities, 24 of which have town status. Its administrative center is the eponymous town of Banská Bystrica, which is also the region's largest town. Other important towns are Zvolen and Lučenec. Geography It is located in the central part of Slovakia and has an area of 9,455 km2. Slovak Car Registration Plates
Vehicles registered in Slovakia are generally assigned to one of the districts (''okres'') and since 1997, the licence plate coding ( sk, EČV, evidenčné číslo vozidla) generally consists of seven characters and takes the form XX-NNNLL, where XX is a two letter code corresponding to the district, NNN is three digit number and LL are two letters (assigned alphabetically). Slovenská Ľupča
Slovenská Ľupča is the largest village in the Banská Bystrica District of central Slovakia. Geography The altitude of Slovenská Ľupča ranges from 370 to 699 metres, with the centre of the village lying at 378 metres. The municipality covers an area of 33.325 km². It is situated about 10 km east of Banská Bystrica, in the Hron river valley. Slovenská Ľupča is part of two administrative units, the Banská Bystrica District and the Banská Bystrica Region. Schultheiß
In medieval Germany, the ''Schultheiß'' () was the head of a municipality (akin to today's office of mayor), a ''Vogt'' or an executive official of the ruler. As official (''villicus'') it was his duty to order his assigned village or county (''villicatio'') to pay the taxes and perform the services due to the ruler. The name originates from this function: ''Schuld'' 'debt' + ''heißen'' 'to order'. Later, the title was also used for the head of a town (''Stadtschultheiß'') or village (''Dorfschultheiß'').
