Howie Tipton
Howard Durward Tipton (April 19, 1911 – March 19, 1966) was an American football player. Tipton was born in 1911 in Los Angeles and attended Belmont High School. He attended the University of Southern California and played college football for the USC Trojans from 1929 to 1932. At USC, he saw limited action as a halfback and did not letter through his junior year. As a senior, he was moved to the running guard and defensive back positions where he saw regular playing time on the 1932 USC Trojans football team that compiled a perfect 10–0 and won the national championship. He played professional football in the National Football League (NFL) as a guard, back, and end for the Chicago Cardinals from 1933 to 1937. Chicago Cardinals
The professional American football team now known as the Arizona Cardinals previously played in Chicago, Illinois, as the Chicago Cardinals from 1898 to 1959 before relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, for the 1960 through 1987 seasons. Roots can be traced to 1898, when Chris O'Brien (American football), Chris O'Brien established an amateur Chicago-based athletic team, the Morgan Athletic Club. Belmont High School (Los Angeles)
Belmont Senior High School is a public high school located at 1575 West 2nd Street in the Westlake community of Los Angeles, California. The school, which serves grades 9 through 12, is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District. History Belmont High School opened in 1923. The Hotel Belmont was the first noteworthy building to stand atop Crown Hill, the present site of Belmont High School. Eventually, the hotel was abandoned, and later it was transformed into the private Belmont School for Girls. After the school was destroyed by fire, the grounds were left vacant, except for five oil wells and a pumping plant for the Los Angeles City Oil Field. The 1932 USC Trojans football team is an American football team that represented the University of Southern California (USC) in the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC) during the 1932 college football season. In its eighth season under head coach Howard Jones, the team compiled a perfect 10–0 record (6–0 against conference opponents), won the PCC championship, shut out eight of ten opponents, defeated Pittsburgh in the 1933 Rose Bowl, and outscored all opponents by a total of 201 to 13. The Knute K. Rockne Trophy was presented at the end of the season to the team deemed to be the national champion using the Dickinson System, a rating system developed by Frank G. The Los Angeles Bulldogs were a professional American football team that competed from 1936 to 1948 (the last year as the Long Beach Bulldogs). Kaiser Steel
Kaiser Steel was a steel company and integrated steel mill near Fontana, California. Industrialist Henry J. Kaiser founded the company on December 1, 1941, and workers fired up the plant's first blast furnace, named "Big Bess" after Kaiser's wife, on December 30, 1942. Then in August 1943, the plant would produce its first steel plate for the Pacific Coast shipbuilding industry amid World War II. Resources for early production came from various sources, and the Fontana site presented some logistical disadvantages. However, the plant continued to grow in capacity after the war, adding more furnaces and metal rollers while also introducing new processes.
