Howard Beale (Australian Politician)
Sir Oliver Howard Beale Order of the British Empire, KBE (10 December 1898 – 17 October 1983) was an Australian politician and diplomat. He was a member of the Liberal Party of Australia, Liberal Party and served in the Australian House of Representatives, House of Representatives from 1946 to 1958, representing the New South Wales seat of Division of Parramatta, Parramatta. He held ministerial office in the Menzies Government (1949–1966), Menzies Government as Department of Information (Australia), Minister for Information (1949–1950), Department of Transport (1941–50), Transport (1949–1950), Department of Supply, Supply (1950–1958), and Department of Defence Production, Defence Production (1956–1958). Percy Spender
Sir Percy Claude Spender (5 October 18973 May 1985) was an Australian politician, diplomat, and judge. He served in the House of Representatives from 1937 to 1951, including as a cabinet minister under Robert Menzies and Arthur Fadden. He was later Ambassador to the United States (1951–1958) and a member of the International Court of Justice (1958–1967), including as president of the court from 1964 to 1967. Early life Spender was born on 5 October 1897 in Darlinghurst, Sydney, New South Wales. A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. The Ambassador of Australia to the United States is an officer of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the director of the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Australia to the United States of America. Julian Howard Beale (10 October 1934 – 3 August 2021) was an Australian businessman and federal politician. He was the son of former cabinet minister and ambassador Sir Howard Beale. Julian Beale was a Liberal member of the Australian Parliament for four consecutive terms, representing the seat of Deakin in Victoria from 1984 to 1990 and Bruce from 1990 to 1996. Beale served the four terms while in opposition. He served as a shadow minister under John Howard, Andrew Peacock and John Hewson from 1985 to 1993, after which he returned to the backbench before being defeated at the 1996 election following a redistribution of his seat.
