Hot Wire (Kix Album)
''Hot Wire'' is the fifth studio album by the glam metal band Kix. It was released on July 9, 1991 on East West Records. Overview ''Hot Wire'' peaked at number 64 on the ''Billboard'' 200 in October 1991. It failed to match the sales of Kix's previous album, ''Blow My Fuse'', selling slightly over 200,000 copies. Producer Taylor Rhodes co-wrote five of the albums' ten songs with Donnie Purnell (the only Kix member credited as a songwriter). At the same time, Crack the Sky member John Palumbo and songwriter Bob Halligan Jr. (Judas Priest, Kiss, Icon, Blue Öyster Cult) got two co-writing credits each. Kix (band)
Kix (sometimes stylized as KIX) is an American glam metal and hard rock band that achieved popularity during the 1980s. Led by frontman Steve Whiteman and bassist Donnie Purnell, the band's classic lineup was rounded out by drummer Jimmy "Chocolate" Chalfant and guitarists Ronnie "10/10" Younkins and Brian "Damage" Forsythe. Kix covered AC/DC, Aerosmith, April Wine, Led Zeppelin, and others before signing with Atlantic Records in 1981. Since peaking in the late-1980s, band members have continued to intermittently record and tour, including the Rocklahoma festival in 2008 in Oklahoma. In addition, they are a consistent presence at the annual M3 Rock Festival in the band's home state of Maryland. John Scarpati
John Scarpati (born June 29, 1960) is a professional photographer whose photography has appeared on hundreds of album and CD covers for bands and individual musicians. He is also the owner of Scarpati Studio, a photography studio that does photography and layouts for advertising campaigns, some of which have won national and regional awards. Scarpati has produced two books based on his photography: Cramp, Slash, & Burn: When Punk and Glam Were Twins and Eyes Wide Open. The first major solo art exhibit of Scarpat's work was in 1991 at Midem – Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France. The exhibit was a dye transfer print series. Scarpati's work has also appeared in publications such as the New York Times and Rolling Stone Magazine. Hugh Syme
Hugh Syme is a Canadian Juno Award-winning graphic artist and member of the Premier Artists Collection (PAC) who is best known for his artwork and cover concepts for rock and metal bands. He is also a musician and has appeared on some Rush albums as a keyboard player. Syme is notably responsible for all of Rush's album cover art since 1975's '' Caress of Steel'' as well as creating Rush's famous Starman logo. In 1983 he told Jeffrey Morgan that he never imagined the band would use it as their main logo. Syme also plays piano on the album ''Thrilling Women'', which Morgan recorded with Dean Motter. George Marino (April 15, 1947 – June 4, 2012) was an American mastering engineer known for working on albums by rock bands starting in the late 1960s. Biography Marino was born on April 15, 1947, in the New York City borough The Bronx. He attended Christopher Columbus High School there and learned to play the saxophone and bass fiddle in the high school band and was classically trained on guitar. Marino broke into the music business as a guitarist playing rock and roll in local New York City bands such as The Chancellors and The New Sounds Ltd. until most of the band members were drafted into the service for the war in Vietnam. Neal Avron (born December 31, 1965) is an American record producer, mixer, audio engineer, and musician. Working predominantly in rock music, Avron began working on records in 1993 and achieved his production breakthrough when he co-produced Everclear's 1997 album '' So Much for the Afterglow''. Steve Whiteman
Steve Whiteman (born August 28, 1956) is an American rock vocalist, best known for being the lead singer of Kix. Biography Early years Whiteman first realized his love for music at a young age, as a child, he would hurry home from church to play, by ear, the hymnals he'd heard during Sunday service. He started his music career playing drums in a Led Zeppelin cover band. Kix Whiteman was recruited to join Kix in 1978 while they were known as "The Shooze". Whiteman and then-drummer Donnie Spence would alternate between who would drum and who would sing until it was decided that since Whiteman could hit the harder notes that he should stay as lead singer, Spence would soon leave in 1979 and be replaced by current-drummer Jimmy "Chocolate" Chalfant. Icon is an American heavy metal band that formed in 1979, disbanding in 1990. Icon has fully reformed as of 2008, currently consisting of three-fifths of the classic lineup: Dan Wexler (guitar), Stephen Clifford (lead vocals), and John Aquilino (guitar), along with Dave Henzerling (bass) and Gary Bruzzese (drums).
