Hossein Alaei
Hossein Alaei () is an Iranian retired military officer who was the CEO of Iran Aseman Airlines from 2013 to 2018. During his military career, Alaei was among senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders, having been its commander in two northwestern provinces, Karbala HQ, maritime forces and the joint staff. He was also defense minister's deputy in the 1990s and early 2000s. In 2013, Alaei was Hassan Rouhani's first choice for minister of defense, however he was reportedly rejected by the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Controversy In January 2012, Alaei wrote an op-ed for the newspaper ''Ettela'at'' that sparked controversy. He implicitly compared Ali Khamenei to the late Shah, posing hypothetical questions that the Shah could have asked himself. Sardar (IRGC)
Sardar (), roughly equivalent to "General", is the honorific title used for Officer (armed forces), officers of highest military ranks, high rank, ranking Brigadier General, Second Brigadier General and higher in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and commanders of the Law Enforcement Force of Islamic Republic of Iran (Police) who have previously served in the former military or the Islamic Revolution Committees, as well as the commanders of the disbanded Jihad of Construction. ''Ettela'at'' () is a Persian-language daily newspaper of record published in Tehran, Iran. It is among the oldest publications in the country, and the oldest running Persian daily newspaper in the world. The paper has a conservative stance, and focuses on political, cultural, social, and economic news. Until the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the newspaper was associated with its chief founder Abbas Massoudi (1895–1974). Ali Shamkhani
Ali Shamkhani (born 29 September 1955) is an Iranian naval officer and politician who served as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran from 2013 to 2023. He is a member of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran and political advisor of the Supreme Leader of Iran since 2023. Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to have assassinated Shamkhani with an airstrike on 13 June 2025 during the start of the Iran–Israel war. However, Iranian media claimed on 20 June that Shamkhani is still alive, and is in stable condition after recovering from his severe injuries from the strike. Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr () is an Iranian retired military commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who currently serves as the Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council.
