Horio Yoshiharu
was a Japanese ''daimyō'' during the Azuchi–Momoyama and Edo periods. He was appointed to the position of one of san-''chūrō'' (three arbiters) by Toyotomi Hideyoshi along with Ikoma Chikamasa and Nakamura Kazuuji. He was the first leader of the Matsue clan and also known as Horio Mosuke (堀尾 茂助). Military life Service under Nobunaga After seeing Yoshiharu wrestling a wild boar, Toyotomi Hideyoshi brought Yoshiharu into his service. Yoshiharu served Hashiba Hideyoshi (Toyotomi Hideyoshi) when Oda Nobunaga attacked Inabayama Castle in 1567. In 1582, after the Battle of Tenmokuzan, he executed Oyamada Nobushige when Nobushige went to the Oda clan camp. When Hideyoshi attacked Bitchū Takamatsu Castle, Yoshiharu conducted an inquest into the death of Shimizu Muneharu. Horio Tadauji
Horio Tadauji (堀尾 忠氏; 1578 – August 8, 1604) was a ''tozama daimyō'' in the Azuchi–Momoyama and Edo period. His father was Horio Yoshiharu. He was the second leader of the Matsue clan. In 1600 at the Battle of Sekigahara, acting as a substitute for Yoshiharu who had been injured in the run up to the battle, Tadauji took part in Tokugawa Ieyasu's force. After the battle, Ieyasu praise Tadauji for his credit and add his domain to 240,000 ''koku'' at Izumo Province. In 1604, Tadauji died before his father Horio Yoshiharu, Tadauji died young from a disease, and his son, Horio Tadaharu Horio Tadaharu (堀尾 忠晴; 1596 – 26 October 1633) was a tozama ''daimyō'' in Japan during the Edo period. Horio Tadaharu
Horio Tadaharu (堀尾 忠晴; 1596 – 26 October 1633) was a tozama ''daimyō'' in Japan during the Edo period. His father was Horio Tadauji and his grandfather was Horio Yoshiharu. He was the third leader of the Matsue clan. He married Binhime daughter of Okudaira Iemasa of Utsunomiya Domain and adopted daughter of Tokugawa Hidetada. They had 1 daughter married Ishikawa Kadokatsu. In 1604, 9 year old Tadaharu succeeded to the leadership of his house on the early death of his father Tadauji; his grandfather acted as regent because of his youth. Between 1607 and 1611 he completed the construction of Matsue Castle. In 1611, Yoshiharu died, and Tadaharu took up personal leadership. In 1619, when the domain of Fukushima Masanori was seized, Tadaharu received Hiroshima Castle, which had belonged to Masanori. In 1633, Tadaharu died. Halki (Greece)
Halki ( ; alternatively ''Chalce'' or ''Chalki'') is a Greek island and municipality in the Dodecanese archipelago in the Aegean Sea, some west of Rhodes. It has an area of . It is part of the Rhodes regional unit. It has a permanent population of 330 (increased during the summer months), concentrated in the only village of Emporio. The 2021 census showed a population of 475 inhabitants. The community is divided in two parts, Chorio (Χωριό, also spelled Horio, "Village") and Emporio (Εμποριό, "Market"). History The island supported a much larger population but, following emigration in the mid-20th century, Chorio was almost completely abandoned. A sizable group of the residents moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida, establishing the Greek-American community there that continues to this day.
