Horcas
Horcas is an Argentina heavy metal band formed in 1988 by Osvaldo Civile, former guitarist for V8, Argentina's landmark heavy metal outfit of the 1980s. After quitting V8 in 1985, and impressed by the new generation of thrash metal bands from the Bay Area led by Metallica, Civile set out to put together a new group in that style. That project, which included former V8 bandmate Gustavo Rowek on the drums, was however delayed for a number of reasons, and it was not until 1988 that it could definitely take off. By that time though, put off by the incessant postponements, Rowek had joined another former V8 member, Walter Giardino, in his new project Rata Blanca. Walter Meza
Walter Meza (born December 8, 1966, Buenos Aires, Aregentina) is an Argentinian singer of thrash metal and heavy metal, known for being the singer of the band Horcas, from 1997 to the present. Biography Walter Darío Meza was born in Buenos Aires City, moving on his first years to the town of San Justo in the city of La Matanza. He began his career in a group called Barloff. Later, when he was fourteen years old, he was the singer of the band Delay, band where also was Paul Mondello, current guitarist of the band Massacre. Also was part of the bands Samurai and Heinkel. He later joined Jeriko, with some of the members of his former bands Heinkel and Retrosatan. With this lineup, they recorded a demo of four songs and reached the final of a contest sponsored by Yamaha, being able to play along other important groups like Hermética, Rata Blanca, Logos and Lethal. Osvaldo Civile
Osvaldo Daniel Civile (21 October 1958 – 28 April 1999) was an Argentine heavy metal guitarist. He was the guitarist for the bands V8 and Horcas. Biography Civile was born in Caseros, Buenos Aires, and began his music career in the band Té de brujas. The guitarist of V8, Ricardo Moreno, left the band in 1982 for health reasons and proposed Civile as his replacement. The drummer Alejandro Colantonio left the band as well, and was replaced by Gustavo Rowek. The lineup of Civile, Rowek, Ricardo Iorio and Alberto Zamarbide is the most famous one of the band. They recorded two long plays, '' Luchando por el Metal'' () and ''Un paso más en la batalla'' (). The band moved to Santos, Brazil, attempting to continue their career there. Gustavo Rowek
Gustavo Nestor Rowek (born 19 March 1963) is an Argentine heavy metal drummer known for being one of the founders of heavy metal movement in Argentina through its participation in Surmenage, WC, V8 and Rata Blanca. Currently he works in his own project Rowek. Career Early years, V8 and Rata Blanca Rowek began playing at age 16, after a friend taught him some basic principles. His first band was called Sourmenage, but later he left this to join WC. The band performed in various places, including a festival by the heavy metal band V8, a group with which they became friends. Gustavo finished part of the formation of V8. Rowek split with V8 in 1985 and in Brazil began with Osvaldo Civile to shape what would become Horcas. On his return from Brazil, Rowek agreed to help Walter Giardino recording a demo of some songs. V8 (band)
V8 was an Argentine heavy metal band formed in 1979, one of the first notable Argentine and Latin America bands of that genre. After its dissolution former members have continued their careers starting other heavy metal bands, Hermética, Horcas, Rata Blanca, Logos and Almafuerte. History V8 was first formed by Ricardo Iorio and Ricardo "Chofa" Moreno, who met when watching the film '' The Song Remains the Same''. The cinema also played songs of Black Sabbath after the film. Heavy Metal, as a music genre, was still unknown. First they created the short-lived bands Alarma and Comunión Humana, and eventually the band V8. Their first songs were "Voy a enloquecer", "Si puedes vencer al temor" and "Muy cansado estoy". The first concert of V8 took place in August 1980, at Club Sahores. Rata Blanca
Rata Blanca ("White Rat" in English) is an Argentine heavy metal band, formed in 1986. History Beginnings The guitarist Walter Giardino replaced Osvaldo Civile in V8 for a short time, and left the band when his songs were rejected. His friend Roberto Cosseddu, bassist of Kamikaze, helped him to record a demo tape with those songs. The drummer Gustavo Rowek, who had also left V8 a short time before, declined his projects with Civile and joined Giardino. The session musicians Rodolfo Cava (singer) and Yulie Ruth (bass player) completed the line-up that recorded the demo. The songs were "Chico callejero", "Rompe el hechizo", "Gente del sur" and "La bruja blanca". Seeking stable members, the band took Saúl Blanch as singer, who was working in the hard-rock band Plus. Rock al Parque is a free rock music festival which has taken place in Bogotá, Colombia, since 1995. It typically gathers more than 50 bands and as many as 400,000 spectators. ''Metal'' was an Argentine heavy metal music magazine edited from 1984 to 1995. It was published by Magendra, which also published the ''Pelo'' magazine, devoted to mainstream rock and pop. José Amalfitani Stadium
The José Amalfitani Stadium (also known as El Fortín de Liniers or Estadio Vélez Sarsfield) is a association football, football stadium located in the Liniers neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, near Liniers railway station. The venue is the home of the Argentine Primera División club Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield, Vélez Sarsfield. The stadium was named after José Amalfitani, who was president of Vélez Sarsfield for 30 years.
