Hoobastank
Hoobastank (sometimes stylized as h∞bastank, and originally known as Hoobustank) is an American rock band formed in 1994 in Agoura Hills, California, by lead vocalist Doug Robb, guitarist Dan Estrin, drummer Chris Hesse, and original bassist Markku Lappalainen. They were signed to Island Records from 2001 to 2012 and have released six albums and one extended play to date. Their most recent album, '' Push Pull'', was released in May 2018. They have sold 10 million albums worldwide. History Early career (1994–2000) Vocalist Doug Robb had known guitarist Dan Estrin for some time before competing against him in a high school battle of the bands competition and subsequently, they decided to form a band. ''Hoobastank'' is the debut studio album by American rock band Hoobastank, released on November 20, 2001, by Island Records. Three singles were released from the album: " Crawling in the Dark", " Running Away", and " Remember Me". It has since been certified Platinum in the United States. Musical style The album's music and vocals have been compared to the band Incubus, who originated from the same suburban area of Southern California. In a December 2001 MTV interview, guitarist Dan Estrin commented, "we have a lot of people that bash us because they think we sound just like Incubus", adding that "a lot of people don't understand that we're all the same age, we grew up in the same neighborhood and we're influenced by the same bands. Howard Michael Benson (born July 20, 1956) is an American record producer from Havertown, Pennsylvania. He has been nominated for two Grammy Awards for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical in 2007 and 2008, among two wins and 16 total nominations for his productions. Early life and education Benson was born and raised in a middle-class family in greater Philadelphia, the son of Estelle and Robert Benson. He is of Jewish descent. Incubus is an American Rock music, rock band from Calabasas, California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer José Pasillas while enrolled in Calabasas High School and later expanded to include bassist Alex Katunich, Alex "Dirk Lance" Katunich, and Gavin "DJ Lyfe" Koppel; the latter two were eventually replaced by bassist Ben Kenney and DJ Kilmore, respectively. Post-grunge is an offshoot of grunge that has a less abrasive or intense tone than traditional grunge. Cobalt Cafe
The Cobalt Cafe was an all-ages music venue in Canoga Park, California. Although the venue always hosted touring artists, it was most known for hosting rock concerts featuring bands local to the Los Angeles area, typically punk, heavy metal, and alternative.
